Hello!
I can’t believe I’m actually writing my first blog post right now! I’ve read approximately 472491 World Race blogs and I never thought that one day I’d be writing one of my own! Crazy! Anyway, I guess I should tell y’all a little about myself and why I’ve decided to leave my normal and everyday life behind in favor of living simplistically out of a backpack for 9 months. 🙂
So it all started around 3 months ago. I was beyond stressed with school and college applications and all of my worries about the future of my academic career were beginning to consume me entirely. I was emotionally and physically drained, and more confused than ever about college. One night I was thinking about how cool it would be to go on a week long mission trip during the summer before I start college and I got super excited about the possibility of being able to go on a short mission trip. I started googling mission trip opportunities and I stumbled upon The World Race Gap Year. The World Race Gap Year is a 9 month mission trip where your goal is to spread God’s love to the places that might not get the chance to know it otherwise. I was super captivated by the term “gap year” but I knew it was something that was way out of reach for me. I mean, 9 months?? In foreign countries? Totally stripped away from everything that is familiar and comforting to you? Sounds pretty crazy to me. but for some odd reason, the next couple of days I couldn’t get The World Race Gap Year out of my head. I would day dream in all of my classes about it so I figured that if this was something that was running through my mind all day, God must be trying to tell me something. So I applied and here I am! God is so so good people! I’m so excited for what the future holds and I can’t wait to see how the Lord forms my heart on this crazy adventure!
This wild journey begins in September 2018! I am on route 3 which means my team and I will be traveling to CAMBODIA, ETHIOPIA, NICARAGUA, & COSTA RICA (insane right?? is this real life??) and I cannot wait! I can’t tell you why exactly God has chosen this path for my life but I couldn’t be more thankful and blessed for this opportunity. Not going to college straight after high school is a very unusual and unordinary path to follow but I do not believe we were called to be ordinary. So with an open mind, arms, and heart, I choose to follow this extraordinary route God has shown me. 🙂
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for taking the time to read my first blog post! I hope you will continue to read them as I continue to update, and you can do that by clicking subscribe to be notified when I post new blogs! Please keep my team and I in your prayers as we begin this crazy adventure! Prayers work miracles people so don’t be shy!:) Y’all also might have realized that traveling for 9 months also comes with a price and mine is $15,800. Looking at that number can get pretty intimidating but I know our God is one who provides and I know that he already has a plan. If you feel called to donate to me I would be so so thankful! Anything helps! If you have any questions or just wanna talk please don’t hesitate to contact me! I’d love to talk! Thank you again for reading and God bless!
with love,
Josie
