It has officially begun, this is my first official blog! Between fundraising and sending out support letters, applying for a new passport, and trying to wrap my head around what exactly I’ll need on my upcoming adventure, I am already in full mission mode. I may have until September, but there is so much to do, and so much I CAN do right now, so why wait? I sent my support letter out about a week ago, and I have already spoke with two different contacts that would like to help fund me, how AMAZING is that?  Hopefully, I will send more out in the near future as well as start some other fundraisers. So, without further ado, here is my letter! Hope you enjoy:)

Dear Friends and Family,

I am about to share an incredible opportunity that God has opened up for me. I have recently  been accepted to go on a September 2017 mission trip called the World Race. The World Race is sponsored by Adventure In Missions, an interdenominational organization that has sent over 100,000 people into the mission field since 1989. The World Race Gap year mission is for youth 18-22, who minister in 5 countries, on 3 continents, in 9 months. I will be launching in September of 2017, and going to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Botswana, South Africa, and the Philippines.

There is a verse in the bible that says “The greatest among you will be your servant”, and that is exactly what this mission is all about, service. During my time on the World Race, we will be working directly with local communities and churches to do a variety of services. We will serve by ministering to the locals, planting churches, aiding women and children who have been trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and teaching. We will work through the hand of God by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, praying for the sick, and preaching the Gospel.

Now this is where you come in. As I prepare for launch, I must also prepare for the financial cost of the mission. Adventures in Missions is a non-profit organization, and requires all racers to raise the necessary funds to cover travel, lodging, training, food, and supplies. In order for me to be ready to go by September of 2017 I need to raise $14, 951. Raising support for this mission is not just about gaining financial support, but prayer support as well. As I prepare for this incredible journey, will you please take the time to pray and decide whether helping to fund my mission is the right thing for you? Any donations can be made directly to https://www.adventures.org/give/donate.asp?giveto=worldrace, or to my blog at http://josiedehlin.theworldrace.org/  which you can donate through, as well as follow me on my journey of fundraising as well as the actual mission,  or by check made directly to Adventures in Missions.

Any amount is a blessing, whether it is through a one time donation or through a monthly pledge. I cannot express how much your time and support means to me. By supporting this mission you are doing God’s work as well!  In deciding what to do with the rest of my life I have realized that I cannot go on to other endeavors without fulfilling a mission. My testimony echoes the words of Nicolaus Zinzendorf; “I have but one passion, it is He, it is He alone. The world is the field and the field is the world; and henceforth that country shall be my home where I can be most used in winning Christ.” Hudson Taylor said “God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply.” To this end, I am exercising my faith in believing that God will provide the necessary funds for me to be part of The Great Commission.

God Bless & Keep you, Josephine Dehlin
