Hello everyone! It has been a long time since I have updated my blog. I haven’t been very vocal about this, but here it goes, I am Squad Leading… Well, I have actually been Squad Leading for the last five months or so. I am hoping this short blog about why I said yes to Squad Leading will motivate me to continue writing blogs about my experiences.

Back towards the end of September, I was asked to Squad Lead. I gave my immediate yes, quit my job, and prepared to navigate missions in a pandemic. I said yes because I think this journey matters. My World Race thrust me into a world filled with poverty, sickness, and brokenness. While I saw how little the world cares for the marginalized, I also saw Jesus in every person who has dedicated their lives to helping others. For every person who wouldn’t mind watching the world burn, there are entire groups of people coming together and praying for ways to put out the fires. Despite how it may feel, God is still moving and active in the World.

The Journey is as mundane as it is exciting. For every day we spent in the back of a Pickup truck barreling down a dirt road in the Peruvian Jungle; we had many days sitting in our own sweat pool, trying to prepare a Bible lesson for a group of Togolese Pastors. I have as many stories of days where nothing happened, as I do of God showing up and saving us from our own poor discernment. I was taught patience and hope in a frantic broken World.

This Journey helped me find God in the exciting and mundane. I was given a lot by my leadership on my trip, and I don’t believe love or experiences are to be hoarded. Instead, they are to be freely shared with others. I wanted to come alongside the next group of people crazy enough to do missions during a pandemic, and help them take ownership of their journey.
