This blog is something that God has put on my heart recently for all the people at home who are reading this, I don’t know where you are in your faith, but God does. And so do you.

I’ve noticed something over the past 6 months about the very faith I practice. Both overseas, and back home where I am from.

Christians these days let their faith become a routine, it becomes lazy and boring, like they are a middle aged man who sort of hates his job, but is too stagnant to do anything about it.

It’s sad really.

I read a blog recently about the statistics for my generations faith or belief in Jesus. I couldn’t believe what I read.

It said that 4%, FOUR PERCENT, of Millennials who say that they are christians do not practice what they believe.

I’m sorry.. WHAT?

That number staggers me, and makes me even more fearful at what the other age group statistics numbers will yield.

We, as christians, (I know I can speak for myself at the very least) have become laxidazial with our faith and let it become routine.

Go to church on Sunday.

Sing songs for fifteen minutes.

Sip on coffee as we listen to what the Pastor has to say.

9-5 christianity. No relationship, just religion.

I know that if you asked me one, maybe even two years ago, how my relationship with Jesus was I would’ve said: “Aw great! I love God!”, and would have kept it at that. No elaboration. No details.

I was a lukewarm christian.

Ha-ha, you’ve heard that before, right?

I have heard it all the time! God says: “whoever is lukewarm I will spit from my mouth.”

Revelations 3:15-17

Little did I realize, that God wanted to SPIT ME OUT OF HIS MOUTH.

If you were ever in public, and some guy spit right near you, you would be offended!
You would think it is rude!

The fact that God would do that to people who say they have relationship with Him, but they don’t, or don’t try to,

Should be a wake up call.

Do you think you have a relationship with Jesus, just by sitting in a pew on a Sunday?

I did.

I know for me, NOW, my faith is not something I only invest into on a Sunday.

It is not something that I focus on, only when my bible is open.

It is my personal relationship with Him, that will bring me closer to Him and His Kingdom.

Not my efforts to be a cool worship leader, or even giving meaningful sermons.

Because I can do those things and still be miles away from God on my own time.
(And trust me, I have.)

My brothers and sisters, God does not want our relationship with Him to become a chore, a 9-5 routine of churchgoing, or a bother to have to sit through.

He wants ALL our time, ALL our prayer, and ALL of our lives to be fully devoted to Him.

I know you probably don’t want to hear this from a 20 year old, with no credibility and no plan for his life yet, but I can tell you this:

I want others to realize this, because it took me long enough to realize it, and It’s so easy to miss. I don’t want to become stagnant in my faith, aimlessly going to church because everyone else is doing it. I don’t want to make it a routine thing, I want to go with a joyful and willing heart, ready to learn what the Lord has for me.

So please do not take what I am about to say literally:

Forget your parents,
forget your siblings,
forget your children,
forget your friends & peers,
Co-workers and even all the people at your church.

Why?

Because your personal relationship with Jesus is worth more than any other thing you can think of.

If you don’t agree with that,

Then I’m afraid you don’t agree with the Bible.

“If you know Me, you will also know the Father.

From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

-Jesus, ‘John 14:7’
