Finally. We were finally leaving India. After one grueling hot month with food I couldn’t stomach and two hospital visits we were leaving. Not only were we leaving India we were going to Nepal! I was ecstatic. Ever since signing up for the race everyone told me about how beautiful Nepal was. When we finally flew in I actually shed a tear it was so beautiful. We landed in Kathmandu and the mountains were everywhere and it was the greenest land I’d ever seen. I even called my mom and told her I never believed I would be that person blessed enough to experience something so amazing. Our second day in Kathmandu we went to the market. There were so many white people!!! In India we were the only white people around. In Nepal, due to Mount Everest, there were tons of tourists. They had french bakeries and I actually got a coke and a chocolate donut. It was like heaven. It was so cool I actually even wore long sleeves. Then to add a cherry on top of the pie they told us we could book a helicopter to fly around Mount Everest, bungee jump, or even go on a safari that you ride an elephant through. I called my mom again and just raved about how this was already the best month ever! That night we got our assignment and everything changed.
Not only were we not in Kathmandu, we were not in the mountains, or really even in Nepal. We were being sent 7 hours away from everyone on our squad to the Indian border. Essentially going right back to India. After that information they told us the place we’re going in “Nepal” was very dangerous. We can’t go anywhere by ourselves because white people have been murdered in this area before for their money. A couple of weeks ago elephants raided the city, destroyed crops, stomped down a house, and killed two people. I did not sign up for this………
I’m scared. I know God will protect us but that doesn’t mean I’m going to throw myself in front of a bus and say Jesus save me. I feel like that’s what I’m doing though. The ride here was an awful experience in itself. We drove through the mountains for at least 6 hours on what I can only describe as a death road. The roads were super narrow with no rails and right on the edge of the mountains. I was terrified. Then we had a thirty minute detour because of a landslide. To top it all off we blew out a tire when we got through the mountains and as Brody was helping change it, the micro bus ran over his foot. Good thing I don’t believe in bad omens right?
Please pray for me and my team to see God in this. Because right now we’re terrified and angry.

In other news: there is no other news. I’m just scared and wanna go home.
