The day was September 28, 2012. It was sunny as ever and all of the teams on our squad were told to go make a memory in Phuket Thailand. Being full of tourist traps and beautiful beaches we all knew it would be a very easy task but I had no idea the epicness that was about to ensue. First, our team leader, Sam suggested we rent mopeds and explore the town with no boundaries. A moped. In Phuket. Riding along the beaches. Let that sink in.
After riding for a good 15 minutes on a road that parallels the beach, we found a lookout point on top of a hill where you could see the whole city. The water seemed endless and it looked like something out of a movie.

As if it wasn’t already perfect, we get to the top of the lookout and there’s a monkey! He was a baby and his name was Mike. You could pay $1 to hold him and take pictures and of course I jumped on the chance.

So far I rode a moped on the beach, saw a beautiful view, and held a monkey. Could today get any better? You better believe it could! God really treated us to no extent. As we were leaving the look out point, we got to the bottom of the stairs and there was a woman holding an eagle. I’m terrified of birds so I steered clear but the rest of the team went to pet it. As they were stroking a majestic eagle, a man approached us and said “You like animals?” We all replied that we do. He then asked, “You want to go ride elephants?”

Wait.

Let me fill you in on the fact that I have tried to ride an elephant in every country and it has fallen through in EVERY COUNTRY. Now, without any planning, I’m getting to ride an elephant. Jesus you sure know how to romance me : )

So then, we get on our mopeds and follow this guy to an elephant park. There are probably 12 elephants to ride and two baby elephants. IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING?!?!

So Jessica and I pay to ride an elephant for 30 minutes. When we leave to go on our adventure we were both sitting on a bench strapped to the elephants back and our guide was sitting on the elephants head. After about 15 minutes the guide tried to sell us jewelry to which we declined, then in his attempt to make some extra money he asked if I would pay to ride on the elephants head. I thought my heart was going to leap out of my chest. ABSOLUTELY! So as we pull back into the camp the guide is nowhere near the elephant and I am driving it as Jessica sits on the bench. IS THIS REAL LIFE?!
After we left there we found a beach that was beautiful with hardly any people on it.
Then we found a legit Mexican food restaraunt and ate queso, sour cream, salsa, and fajitas. It was delicious.
To wind the day down we got some starbucks, talked about the horrible sunburn that I got that was so worth it, then went back to the hotel.
It literally felt like God plucked the perfect day out of my head and put it into existence. I can’t imagine being blessed with a more amazing team to share this day with
