India was an experience. The food was spicy and unidentifiable. The weather was hot. The terrain looked just like Texas. Needless to say I was ready to leave. When we left our village to meet back up with the rest of the team we had the chance to eat American food. I was ecstatic. The first place we went to was called NFC and I got a grilled cheese, 5 chicken strips, and two scoops of ice cream. Then we went to a place called Caramel for dinner and I got a cheese pizza and a chicken sub. YUM. By the time we got back to the place we were staying I was having tummy troubles. By the time our bus was there the next night I was puking in an Indian sewer. It was at this point my team leader said I needed to go to the hospital because I didn’t eat or drink anything that whole day and I was still throwing up. The hospital we went to was like being in America all over again. It took the nurses at least 10 (felt like 100) tries to get my IV in and I cried like a five year old. Then we got put in a private room with two beds and a flat screen TV and an air conditioner and a western toilet and an actual shower. I have never been so excited in my life. I was still upset though because all I wanted was to get out of India and get to Nepal. Then one of the nurses asked me about my tattoo. In case you don’t know I have a tattoo on my foot with the bible verse Matthew 6:24-34. It was so great to be able to tell her about my tattoo and why I felt like God lead me to get that verse on my body forever. The next day I got out of the hospital and we got to meet C Squad who’s on month 8 and it was such a blessing to be able to talk to them! Then we met up with our team again and made it to Nepal : ) But to recap, this is what I got out of India:
An infected ear that resulted in a hospital visit
Super hungry because the food didn’t agree with me
Super homesick because I just wanted my mom
A whole new understanding of God’s Kingdom
A love for all of my team mates
A hospital visit from being dehydrated
I got three great new friends in our translator and the pastor’s two daughters
I got to climb a mountain : )
Overall God showed me that their are so many different cultural norms and belief systems in Christianity. But over all they all focus on God’s love
