The other day, me and a couple of other people watched the sunrise for one of our last few days in Ecuador. It was a fairly clear morning and the morning city lights twinkled against the cool pink sky. It was perfect. All of us had bought chocolate milk and drank it while the sun woke up the city in the mountains.

At around 6:45, we listened to the podcast ‘Jesus is Loving Barabbus’ by Judah Smith. It was so good. I had never noticed how indeed Jesus saved Barrabus from death and he would also die on the cross for Barabbus. Barabbus just needed to put all of his trust in Jesus. This is a part of the podcast that I love:

‘For Jesus knew that the Father would have to treat Jesus like Barabbus, so he could treat Barabbus like Jesus. Barabbus thought, it was the people that set him free. No, no, no, no. It was the love of a heavenly Father. Barrabus is really me, he is you, he is all of us. For while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus loves me and he is enough.’

My squad arrived Sunday afternoon to Trujillo, Peru. We had a safe 25-30 hour travel time by bus. We left at about 10:30 on Monday night to Cusco, Peru by bus. my team had about another 20-25 hours of travel to finish. On Monday we got to play a little soccer with the 5 year olds at the school we are staying at. It was so much fun interacting with these children. They have so much joy and I loved being with them. For both team silverback and team tribe, this is the first time that we are interacting with people for ministry so it has been really cool. On Monday afternoon, we went to the beach and that was so fun. It was a nice relaxing down day in between traveling, and I’m glad that we had that day.

With this past week, there has been a lot of goodbyes. Leaving Mabe and Fabi, leaving the other teams, and also leaving our ministry host. Yet with saying goodbye, we are welcoming into our lives this next month in Peru with our team. With only being with the other guys, I want to invest a lot of time with them. I think if we all put in the time with each other and with the leadership that is with us, we all will grow in Christ as also with each other. So I am excited for what these next few weeks will hold as we are working at an orphanage.
