I am going to present a question that I think some of us have thought about. That question is:

Why doesn’t God heal in America?

I think that the idea of healing has been something that I have struggled over and have asked God a lot about. This searching began in Guatemala of last year. I had recently spoken of my pain of my varicose veins to the squad during a Thursday activation day. After prayer and ultimately God’s hand of healing, I felt no pain.

Fast forward to the end of the Race, I had been home a couple of days and started to realize that my veins started to hurt again. Over my time of healing in Guatemala, I had mentioned a procedure about removing the veins. But I think all of us were so into seeing God’s healing, I was told to trust and have faith that God would heal. No one told me that if God did not choose to heal me, then it was not wrong to remove them. So when I got home, I think the biggest thing that I struggled with was the idea that I had lost my trust and faith in God.

I started to process several ideas and things I had learned pertaining to healing. When the pain was back worse than ever before, I started mentioning my thoughts to others. Something I was told was that God works in his own ways. This could have been a seasonal healing that he brought, when I was on the Race. Another idea is medical technology is a miracle in itself.

Now I want to create an idea for you. In America we are surrounded by medical technology that allows for one to be cured of the thing they are going through.

Let me tell you – That is healing. God shows himself in the miracle of modern technology, and with that the miracle of his creation – humans, that know what to perform within surgeries and all spectrums added to that.

While God works in ways that we may not understand, I think that it is hard to say, “Why doesn’t God heal in America?” There is healing all around us. We may be looking for the more “crazy miraculous healings”, but that can’t excuse all of the things that God has done and is doing. Adding onto that, is the idea that we can be a witness for God in those times.

I had my veins removed last week, and I can tell you that God has provided such healing in my recovery. It has been a wonder at the short time that has passed that my leg has been able to return to walking.
