The night of May 4 I had a dream that I did not know would ruin me for the ordinary. When I walk up all I could remember from the dream was a few select words. Those words where Tanzania, HIV, New Haven, and the name Claire. The next morning I kept asking our Pastor did he know anything about New Haven. And after church I asked him did he know anyone named Claire. That day I preached and I wanted to ask the congregation while I was preaching but was nervous and did not. Tuesday our next day of ministry is when what I saw as ordinary was forever changed.
Kenya our third month in Africa we are finally doing door-to-door as one of our main ministries. Tuesday was our first day going out. We left with our contact Emma and a lady named Ann from Church. We finally reached our stop after about a 10 or 15 minute walk. We walked through a gate and we were greeted at the door by young girl and lady who we found was Ann’s sister-and-law and her brother. We notice that the lady has some fresh scars on her face as we walk in. They politely ask us to sit down. We then began to greet and ask their names. She says “My name is Claire and that is my husband Daniel.” I heard her name and I instantly gasped. My teammates who had not heard about my dream yet were looking at me weird wondering why I was shaking up. If you have read my blogs you know I am sensitive, so of course I also began to cry. My teammate Michael had to let Claire know why I was unable to talk in the moment while I caught my composure. The kicker to it we found she had her accident on the back of a motorcycle the night of May 4. Daniel her husband did not know about the accident until the next morning. So the Father had put her on my heart to begin praying for before Daniel even knew.
As we continued to talk to her and learn more about her injuries Erin told Claire that she was feeling pain in her left knee and knew Claire would say she had pain there before she mentioned it. Erin and I both got up and began to pray for her, as well as Michael and Whitney. As I was praying I could feel heat coming from her knee where Erin’s hands were. I could tell that God was beginning to heal her. After we finished praying Michael asked her where she could tell God was beginning to heal her and she said her knee. So Michael asked her to stand up and walk and she said she could feel less pain.
As she sat down Michael let her know that the Father had placed children on his heart for them. She fought off tears and said that she had been praying for them for 3 years. Michael asked if he could pray for her and Daniel. So they came together and Michael asked the Father to bless them with Children. During the prayer I felt the Father saying not only would they have children but a son. And Christina felt the Father saying not one child but many would be running around that house.
While all this was going on you could really tell that Daniel was really being touched. Erin asked him what he was feeling. He told us how all he could think of was how the Father saved Claire from her accident. He knew the Father had something big planned for their family. He also said he wanted to be more involved in the church like Claire. He wanted to be more devoted in how he served the Lord. As you can probably tell by how long this blog is and only about one stop it was the only one we made that day.
After an experience like that I can never look at dreams the same. I want to be able to listen clearer to what the Father is trying to do. I want to serve Him even more knowing He loves me so much that He wants to use me to bring His light to them. How could I want to do anything else? I am truly wrecked for the ordinary.
