Jesus – Alpha & Omega – Almighty – Lamb of God – Father – King of Kings – I AM
These are the names that break strongholds and cause Satan to tremble in fear. The more I proclaim each, I begin to taste and see the glory of God here on Earth as it is in Heaven. Making a decision to leave "my world" and the comfort it brings to live as Jesus did is humbling and exciting at the same time. But, in the back of my mind I continue to think of 1 Peter 5:8 and John 10:10 – the enemy is ready to do anything possible to stop me and is becoming a harsh reality.
- It rained for 40 days and 40 nights when God wanted to cleanse the world and start over (Gen 7:12)
- Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days (TWICE) – (Exo 24:18 & Deu 10:10)
- It took the spies 40 days to search out the promised land and bring back fruit – (Num 13:25)
- Elijah strengthened by one angelic meal went 40 days to Mount Horeb where the Lord passed by and he heard the voice of God – (1 Ki 19:8)
- Jonah warned the City of Nineveh they had 40 days until God would overthrow the city. The people repented in those 40 days and God spared the city. – (Jonah 3:4 and 10)
- Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness – (Mat 3:17 & Mat 4:1-2 )
- Jesus was seen in the earth 40 days after His crucifixion – (Acts 1:3)
As you can see, 40 days is something that the Bible reveals in multiple cases. Each situation of 40 days requires a journey to reach what God had planned. I find it unique that Jesus spent this period of fasting to prepare Himself for His earthly ministry. It also prepared Him for the time of temptation by the devil in the Wilderness. This 40 day physical/spiritual journey to complete abandoment of self for the Father is a weapon of choice against the ememy (Satan).
As I have been called to leave everything I own as the disciples did in Matthew, I have also been called to begin my journey with a 40 Day fast to prepare myself spiritually and be under the authority of Christ before I fundraise or utter a word of The World Race to anyone – I dare you fellow racers to journey with me through prayer as we prepare to kick down the gates of Hell in Jesus name.
Remember – when the devil fights you, it means he fears the I AM within you.
