Hello All, (“Swaa Dii Khap”)
This month on the World Race we will doing something we like to call “Man-istry”. And let me just tell you, we’re only two days in I’m already thinking this is going to be one of my favorite months. Man-istry is a month where all the men from the big group come together to form ONE MANLY TEAM. All of the ladies then form new teams of women-only groups to mainly focus on meeting with women that are sold into the sex-slave industry that’s overcoming Thailand. Women discipling women. And the men will focus more on the manual labor / community building in hard to reach places ministry, much of which is along the Burmese-Thai border. For example, some of the work this month will be at a little refuge camp along the border with Burma near a city called Mae Sot. We’ll also be living in Mae Sariang, and taking a boat to remote tribal “hill people” along the river bordering Burma.
The main contact for the men this month runs a group called ‘Outpour Movement‘ and really seems to get the idea behind Manistry month; to build community among men and love on some people in hard to reach places. While we’re in a pretty nice Thai hotel now and for the next couple of days, I promise you that we are looking forward to an intense couple of weeks. Camping in the jungle, making our way down the river to reach small villages, and manual labor pretty much every place we go, will be an expectation for this month. Something else I’m looking forward to this month is being able to work with our main contact and his family. They have two girls, 9 and 1, and seem to really be compelled by their love for these people here. Coming from Colorado they make communication really easy. And Ray has already been really investing in our lives with his time. It can make all the difference in our team for the month.
Lastly, we will be following him around to several ministry sites this month, each only for a handful of days, and living back in main city Chiangmai between locations. So hopefully I’ll be posting more blogs than my usual small amount… Maybe even with videos! I know, I know, I’m gettin’ a little crazy 🙂 but I’m hoping for the best.
Well that’s about all I’ve got for now but given we’ll have internet a couple of times, I’m sure you’ll be hearing from me plenty this month. Thankfully!
Keep a look out for more blogs, know I love you all, and think about you often. Please keep praying for me and thinking about how you can be supporting me along with other people on the mission field like me.
And as always,
Love God. Love People,
Joshua
