I have been mulling over what to name this blog and decided to examine what my life looks like in the eyes of Christ
lately and remembered a word that my Dad used when I was
little. Doulos.
Doulos is a Greek word for bond-servant. In Biblical times someone
could become a bond-servant by willingly entering into a life of
service. However this commitment was not breakable. You could not be
bought or sold. You, by choice, committed the rest of your days to serving someone.
This act meant you willingly gave up your freedom.
I believe that when we enter into relationship with Christ, this is
what should occur. By choosing to follow Christ we give up our life of
freedom and take up a life of service. I am by no means anywhere close
to this. I fail daily, but I am trying to remind myself daily, that I
made a commitment to serve God years ago. That despite MY desires, MY
wants, MY needs…
