Hi, I'm Josh!  Thanks for checking out my blog!

I was born and raised in Lenoir, NC by my awesome parents Danny & Kim.  I have a younger sister named Jessica who is one of my best friends.  And the rest of my family is just as awesome!

After high school, I attended college at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC.  Since college, I've been living in the Charlotte, NC area working as an designer/animator for a couple of TV networks. I have the most awesome co-workers/friends ever!

One of the greatest experiences in my life, was a 5 day trek to Machu Picchu with some close friends.

Some of my current interests are hiking, kung fu, and kayaking. I also enjoy mud runs with friends (Spartan Race/Warrior Dash) and hanging out at the US National Whitewater Center.  I was planning to go sky diving this month, but b/c of the race, it's going to have to wait!

I love all kinds of music.  I grew up listening to Motown and Phil Collins with my dad.  The Big Chill Soundtrack was played religiously. Some artists currently on my playlist are Passion Pit, Glen Hansard and Bon Iver.  And I'd never turn down some Mariah, Biggie or even Ja-Rule.

I'm a sci-fi fantasy nerd who enjoys movies like the Avengers, Star Wars, and the Lord of the Rings.  I've always been a huge fan of collector of both comic books and action figures (the latter of which is now helping to fund my trip!).  I still enjoy video games, but find less and less time for them.  I can always find time for a quick game of Contra though (Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start)!

Some of my favorite books recently have been "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years," and "Through Painted Deserts," by Donald Miller.  The last book I read was "Love Does," by Bob Goff.  All of these books have been significant in helping me decide to join the World Race.

Lastly, I have a puppy named Lola, who continually is teaching me the meaning of patience. I wish I could take her with me.

I can't wait to start the race!  Thank you for your prayers and support! 🙂

Josh
