I wrote this poem after experiencing God like I never have before, watching the sun set at my home in Thailand. (sorry for the weird spacing)

Then the Sun Sets

by: Joshy Hofmeister

God calls me to sit in His presence,

Then the Sun Sets.

He calls me into His beauty,

Then the Sun Sets.

He presents me with His wonders,

Then the Sun Sets.

My plan you can’t see–

Desiring it desperately–

Wait for me.

Then–

the Sun Sets.

God calls me to listen in my time of orbit, eyes closed,

Then the Sun Sets.

He calls me into the Promise I made,

Then the Sun Sets.

He presents me with His accountability,

Then the Sun Sets.

Mountains you must climb–

I’m outside of time–

Wait for me.

Then–

the Sun Sets.

God calls me to be a mighty man,

Then the Sun Sets.

He calls me by who I am,

Then the Sun Sets.

He presents me with a title, son of the Most High King,

Then the Sun Sets.

A greater calling I have for you–

I make all things new–

Wait for me.

Then–

the Sun Sets.

God calls me to seek Him beyond His chromatic horizon,

Then the Sun Sets.

God calls me into an unrelenting obedience,

Then the Sun Sets.

He presents me with an option.

Then the Sun Sets.

I know your tomorrow–

There is no sorrow–

Wait for me.

Then–

the Sun Sets.

God calls me to sit in His presence,

Then the Sun Sets.

He calls me into His beauty,

Then the Sun Sets.

He presents me with His wonders,

Then the Sun Sets.

Your next door–

It’s filled with my loving downpour–

Wait for me.

Then–

the Sun Sets.

God calls me to stand up,

I bask in His presence.

I try to leave,

 I can’t leave His presence.

I try to move my feet, it’s impossible,

I can’t leave His presence.

I bask in His presence,

His never ending, never failing,

Presence.

Arms stretched wide.

I open my eyes.

Then–

the Sun Sets.
