The last couple months I’ve been learning to see God in everything and it has been changing the way I view the world. When you see him in that way things become fresh and you begin to appreciate everything around you.

I remember meditating on God in a coffee shop. I had my headphones on and felt Holy Spirit tell me to take them off. So I did and went back to my mediation on the Lord. I found myself looking at the coffee cup right in front of me and I began to thank God for it. For the mugs use to hold my drink, then for the chair that I was sitting on, for the walls that where keeping the building in place, and for the paint to make it look nice. I probably sat there thanking God for about 30 minutes. Filled with joy and appreciation I began to tear up, as I heard a silent voice in my heart say “do you see now?I’ve made this earth and everything in it so that you could enjoy it with me.”
I felt like Adam before the fall, when he was sitting in the cool of the day with God. I’ve realized that God is the God of now, he doesn’t care what you’ve done in the past or what you’re going to do. He wants you to be ever present with him now. I love this quote from brother Lawrence

“I came to the realization that I should put aside all the thoughts which brought about these times of trouble and unrest. Immediately I found myself changed. My soul, which had been so troubled, then felt a profound sense of inward peace and rest.”

When you focus on God’s presence now, you don’t worry about the future or the troubles you have in life you began to appreciate the small things.
