This month we partnered with the local daycare that is funded by the Guatemalan government for single mothers. A ministry that’s right up my alley – I love children and they love me!
We were also asked to paint over an old mural in the largest section of the wall in their playground to make our own mural. I was totally pumped to be able to leave such a cool memory of us for the children and the teachers.
While doing the day-to-day at the daycare we would trade off who was playing with the kids and who was working on the mural. With my lack of artistic talent and my poor eyesight, I mostly hung with the kids. In this time I really felt the importance of the Father’s heavenly and carnal love. As I sat and loved on these kids, I could feel their desire for a deep connection. They would sit on me so they could have physical contact. They would talk to me even though they knew I did not understand. The children and their love for me have touched me.
God moved in amazing ways in our teams as we worked worked side by side on the wall. We were able to connect and share our lives with each other. I felt an interesting change in hearts; some were hesitant in the beginning about the ministry and why we were there but as the days past things changed. Our teams were much more jovial while we played with the kids and worked on the mural. There was a great sense of togetherness growing as each day passed. Praise the Lord He isn’t confined to what we think should happen. We would surely miss out on so many blessing and lessons.
