Happy Thanksgiving!
This Thanksgiving has certainly been different than past Thanksgivings. We keep busy with our ministries throughout the week, so we will come together on Saturday to have our Thanksgiving dinner. While my day did not include a parade, turkey, football, or a nap, I’ve been reminded of the things that I am thankful for throughout the day.
Earlier this week at Hope House, the hospice home we are partnering with this month, we asked the children what they are thankful for. Each of these children are living at Hope House for a range of unfortunate reasons, ranging from health to a poor family environment. Despite their circumstances, health, and uncertain futures, we are greeted each day with smiles, hugs, and high fives. As we play soccer, draw pictures, or watch a movie, the kids show a genuine love for each other. When our van arrives to bring us home, the kids walk away hand-in-hand and carry on with the rest of their day.
One of my squadmates asked each of the four children what they are thankful for. Each child shared they were thankful for their life. Their words remained in my mind throughout today as I remember the things for which I am truly thankful. There are several simple things that come to mind when I think about giving thanks. I consider how amazing this opportunity to travel and serve in so many countries has been. But these things pale in comparison to the amazing life that God has given me and the story He is writing each day.
Thank you all for your amazing support and encouragement. I’ve received so many encouraging words from so many of you over the last few months and I am grateful for your prayers. Thank you to those who have partnered with this ministry financially. My final financial deadline for The World Race is January 1st and just $2,800 remains until this ministry is fully funded. Please prayerfully consider partnering with me in this way. Gifts of all amounts are greatly appreciated and can be given by clicking the “Support Me!” link on the left side of this page. Gifts can also be given to Hope Wesleyan Church in Independence, Iowa (please write “Joshua Beebe” in the memo line).
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
