“Si Puedo, Si Tengo, y Soy Capaz”
This was a phrase I heard many times during my first week teaching a values class in the schools here. We joined our host, Luis, in his daily ministry of teaching in the schools in Antigua and surrounding areas. I taught along side a few teammates and we shared with the students about a variety of topics.
This first week, we talked about potential. We shared about the meaning of potential, our experiences in realizing our potential, and the importance of becoming everything God created us to be.
At the end of each class, Luis had our students stand up and dance as they repeated “Si Puedo, Si Tengo, y Soy Capaz”, which translates to “Yes I can, Yes I have, and I am able”.
Even though we taught this lesson more than fifteen times in one week, it was great having the opportunity to speak life into these students. Other topics we taught on this month include self esteem, decision making, depression, and forgiveness. We were grateful for opportunities to pray with students on a few occasions!
We head off to Nicaragua bright and early Sunday morning for month eleven! Guatemala was an incredible month of ministry in the beautiful city of Antigua. We are excited to do some manual labor and surfing ministry to wrap up our final month of the Race!
Prayer Requests:
Continued healing for my arm. The cast is off and I’m continuing to work on range of motion.
Focus during our final month of ministry on the Race.
For the Lord to continue opening my eyes to his world and himself in the same way as the first month of the Race.
Comfort and healing for my friends in Nepal. Our host is mourning the loss of his brother-in-law.
Mayan girls at a school in the mountains. The girls would run away from us at first when we talked to them,
but by the end of recess we were best friends!
The boys were full of energy. Our apologies to the teachers for getting them hyped up before class!
One of the oldest churches in Guatemala was just down the street from our house. A beautiful reminder
that God was in Guatemala long before we were and that his presence will remain for ages to come.
A symbol of hope and love displayed over the city of Antigua. A missionary serving in Antigua reflected
on the cross by sharing that he loves looking at the city through the filter of the cross. A beautiful illustration
to remember our focus during our time in the city.
