TRAVEL DAY
So I always seem to make the most of all my experiences. And wednesday night when I left for Georgia I happen to arrive 4 hours early to my flight, which wasn’t to bad just a lot of waiting and some reading. Then I arrive in ATL at 4:50 AM. 4 hours before any other of my teammates get their, giving me plenty of time to relax… I walked around for a while carrying my 30lbs pack with me until I decided to find a place to take a nap, especially since I didn’t really sleep on the plane. It took a minute but I was able to find a good spot to nap that was pretty safe!
After 2 short naps and some coffee my first teammate arrived!! It was awesome getting to meet someone that I have been messaging for a while, and the rest of the team got their within the next couple hours. We also met up with other World Racers unexpectedly!!
TRAINING CAMP
At this point I was at the airport for almost 10 hours and we finally leave for training camp! Not knowing what to expect it was definitely an interesting experience. Arriving at camp it was very cold for an Arizona boy and we jumped right into games to get to know each other! That night we went straight into worship and our first session of camp getting the low down on the next couple days.
The next 4 days were wild!
-
We worshipped 2-3 times a day
-
Had almost 3 sessions every day, which were spiritually fulfilling!!
-
Couldn’t shower till the last day, that was interesting
-
Brushed my teeth using my Nalgene
-
Was only able to use porta-potties
-
Ate a couple meals with my fingers. That was TONS of fun!!
-
Tried a variety of different cultures food
-
And in total it truly felt like we were their for an entire week.
-
Not joking
Overall training camp was essential. I went from being ready to being prepared to share the Gospel across seas! God worked in so many ways at camp, but the biggest thing was healings. We took a lesson on healings and it is still difficult to believe but God does miraculously heal. HE showed us through some Racers that were in pain, healings are possibly and WE are given the authority to heal as children of God. As we continue to grow/learn as humans sometimes we forget that God is able to do miracles and we rely too much on human knowledge. I want to learn to put all my trust in God and truly believe he is able to raise a dead man to life, that David killed a giant with a slingshot, that Daniel was able to survive INSIDE a FURNACE. And that ALL that is still possible today and it is NOT crazy.
Currently I am sitting inside Qatar airport waiting for our flight to Johannesburg. And I want to say how Thankful I am for being given this opportunity by God. I have no idea what I would be doing right now other then meaningless work but God showed me the top of the mountain and all I had to do was follow the path. For once in my life I truly feel I am where God wants me to be!
New blogs will most likely be posted weekly but for now I have an airport to wait at, I love you all!
