After we got back from Accra, Sydnee, Caiti, Will, Mike, Josh and I went to their dorm room to continue our discussion on Christianity. Right from the beginning they asked a lot of questions that kept reverting back to what they believed. All of our were unified in Spirit and worked off of each other to bring truth and scriptures. By the end of the conversation they started to get a grasp on what true Christianity was, not the Christianity that is what has been portrayed to them.
Abortion, whose real name is Emmanuel, is next in line to become chief of his village. To turn from traditionalism means certain betrayal of the family. If he was to bring back Christianity to his family he could be stoned to death. At first this was a risk he was not willing to take. But we went on to tell him that God is a good God, and which is bigger to fear, God or man? At the end of his life he will have to stand before God and give an account of his life, it is up to him to make this decision not based on his family.
We left that day by praying for them. Mike gave them the book “A Case for Christ” and told them to read through it. We wanted to give them some time to think all this over and read through scriptures as well before we would see them again.
Turns out Patriot, whose real name in Abraham, ended up taking the book back to his home. Both Emmanuel and Abraham read through some of it. Mike, Josh, and Will have followed up with them several times and yesterday was able to speak more truth to them. They told them more about the real love of Christ and what it looks like to live as a Christian. Both of the Traditionalists ended up feeling convicted that traditionalism was not truth and the Jesus was the only true God. They both decided today to accept Christ as their savior. Emmanuel even wanted to be baptized as soon as possible. He will be going to a Methodist church to get baptized soon. Patriot will hopefully be getting baptized today with our men down at the beach.
We will be following up with Emmanuel and Abraham regularly after we leave Ghana. We are putting them in contact with some amazing people here on Campus that are solid Christians. With how, influential these two men are… all of Africa could be changed to know the true love of Christ! I will never forget this day!
