So, I gased up and grabbed a couple cheeseburgers from Burger king and hit the rode around 11:45 thursday morning. I drove over to Atlanta to hop on 75 north. Once i got on, about 3 miles up the road i saw an old man with his thumb out. I felt lilke the Lord punched me in my stomach, so i quickly yanked the wheel from the fast lane over to the side of the highway. This old guy was running as fast as he could to the van, “Karen.” I just knew for some reason, God wanted me to pick this guy up. So as soon as he opened the door, i said “whats going on partner?” I shook his hand and we exchanged names. I could tell that he was very intimidated or scarred of me. He wouldnt look me in the eye nor say anything unless I asked him. I guess when you hop in a strangers car, who just so happens to have a MoHawk, it can be scarry. This guy had nothing. No bag, no money..you get the picture. He was about 43 and had a full beard. Covered in dirt. I just wanted to hug him! So….. back to the story…. I asked him, “Do you go to church?” He said “Sometimes.” I just wanted him to know I was a believer and there is nothing to be scarred about. So I asked him,” Whats your story?” He proceeded to say,”I am just coming from Florida and headed to New York to visit some friends.” I told him I was only headed to Cincinnati and He said thats fine. I could tell he was still nervous. Anytime i looked his way, just to use my mirror, he would look straight down in his lap. He wouldnt make eye contact. So 400 miles goes by and he hasnt said a thing. But, I had been dousing him with christian music the entire time! So I let the Lord minister to him through music. I watched him out of the corner of my eye……every once in a while he would start tapping his finger to the music. I couldnt wait to get to the exit of which i ws taking him. I was going to buy him an amazing sit down dinner. He was gonna feast on what ever he wanted! When we got to the exit he had requested, i was sitting at the red light on the off ramp. He opened the door, and for the first time looked me dead in the eye and said, “Thank you so much Josh.” Turned and shut the door. I was in awe. I knew the Lord had planted some kind of seed in him. I was sad cause I wanted to feed him. Maybe in a way, the Lord used me to “feed” him in a different way. I love my Jesus!
Lets all send a prayer up for my Hitch Hiker today! Just pray God blesses his socks off somehow!
I love you all!
