I’ve always had a readiness and calling to help people. Whether it is to listen to a friend when they hit a rough spot, to bring a cup of coffee and a sandwich to someone on the corner begging or even just pay for the person’s meal behind me in a drive thru.
A year ago I went to Honduras on a mission trip with my Dad’s church. Hearing stories or seeing pictures of how bad it is in a third world country is somewhat impactful. But going there in person and seeing how bad it really is there is completely different! It really was life changing. When we had to leave part of me was ready for my own bed, game system and other things I missed. But there was another part of me that felt like a week wasn’t long enough and that I wanted to stay longer.
Recently, I had a friend ask me why I was going to other countries to help people instead of helping people here. Some of you my be thinking the same thing. Here is my answer. The people in other countries can’t get help from their government like we can here. We work for money while they work for food struggling to stay alive. Some of these people won’t make it if someone doesn’t get out there and do something about it. I could say, “Someone else can take care of it”, but if everyone had that mindset no one would ever help them! In the Bible it says, “Go unto every nation and preach the gospel.”
This is what I feel lead and called to do. I’ve been given an amazing opportunity to travel to eleven countries and help people in different ways with The World Race. I would appreciate your support in whatever way possible.
