Hey you guys! Okay, so.. Sorry it has taken us so long to give you an update on what we have been doing in Cambodia… But here it is! We are on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, and this is what it looks like~
Dusty…
Dirty…
And simple… But, we love it!
The people here are amazing! We have been working at a church/school, so we have been leading youth events and also teaching English and Bible classes.
This month has been a breath of fresh air to our team because it is way more relational than some of our previous months, and these people are so excited and eager to learn English so they love to practice with us!
Here is Josh speaking at one of the youth outreach nights with Seyha~ (one of the students, who is also our translator!)
And not only are these kids eager to learn English, but they are so eager to learn more and more about God as well! It is so cool.. Over 60 kids came to the outreach. I’d have to say that Cambodia is one of the most receptive countries we’ve been to yet.
Here we are playing some games with the kids…
And then here are the children.. Oh, how they melt our hearts~
They are stinky and precious!
We have loved being a part of the local church here in Cambodia.. It is so vibrant and alive. The average age in the Cambodian church is 22 years old. This is partly due to the horrific Genocide that took place in the 70’s. (If you don’t know much about the recent history of Cambodia I encourage you to look it up..) Every church service we have been to is so alive and they are genuinely excited to worship God! It has been so convicting to me as so many times I can find myself simply reading the words and thinking about the plans for the rest of my day. I want to worship God like that~ where I am so excited to worship my Maker that I don’t care what anyone else thinks of me!
It really seems like God is beginning to stir up this nation! We asked our contact if a Revival was happening here in Cambodia, and he said, “no, I wouldn’t call it a Revival~ Christianity is just that new here.. So more of an Awakening!”
How exciting.. It is such a privilege to be a part of what God is doing here in Cambodia.. We count ourselves so blessed to share in His work here!
