Hey guys! So I'm normally super against the idea of blogging without pictures, because I think the pictures tell a lot of the story.. But I have recently fried my newer laptop by spilling water on it =c and my old laptop still works, but it's so full I can't even make an update to it… So I can't download pictures on it, but I finally came to the point where I decided a blog without pictures is better then no blog at all! So here goes!
Last season was so great for us! We were house mentors for 7 girls who were students at the Center for Global Action held by AIM, and we all got super close. We did life together: We'd have family dinners, spontaneous worship, play games, hold each other accountable and bare our hearts to one another. It was so cool! I think it was a small glimpse of the idea that the Acts Church had.. Really doing life with people…
Sadly that season came to an end when we learned that there was an old brothel law that didn't allow more then 3 unrelated people to live under the same roof. So now AIM is looking for housing outside of Hall County Limits. But needless to say for us that meant a move, and that was the 5th move for us since Ezzy's been born, (she's not even 2 yet). And, it's a temporary move for the summer, so we will be moving again in a few months.. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't having a hard time with it.. We are so blessed with how the Lord has always provided! But I don't want to move again! I'm at this weird crossroad of just wanting to settle down and decorate and grow some roots, and then so desiring to just get to Cambodia already! I keep reminding myself that this is a small sacrifice to live the life that God has called us to. And what He has for us is so much better then what my flesh wants at the moment..
We know that the Lord has spoken Cambodia to us, it's so burning in our hearts! We've been asking ourselves some questions lately about why the timing seems to keep getting pushed back.. Is it just not the Lord's timing yet, or are we getting distracted by work that has been set before us? Work that is good and for the Kingdom, but work that is distracting us from us getting to where we feel the Lord has called us. But then we also think about the work that has been done.. The fruit that we have produced, and that maybe it is just part of the preparation process for us to go! We have talked with so many missionaries who have shared their journey and usually it involved the timing getting pushed back several times.
One thing we have realized while re-evaluating everything was that in the busyness of ministry we have not been good stewards of a few things. One of them being our supporters. We want to apologize to you guys for not keeping you better in the loop. We so value your love, prayers and support, and without you guys we couldn't do what we are doing. We have decided that we are going to make a trip up to NY in the first two weeks in August to visit with supporters and update people face to face. Then we can sit and visit with you and you can ask us questions and we can share our stories and fill you in! So if you are interested in getting together please let us know and we can go ahead and get something on the calendar! And supporters in GA, we'd love to visit with you as well! So just let us know if you want to! And supporters elsewhere, we could Skype or phone!
Another thing we haven't been the best stewards of is our own Spiritual health. When I say that, I mean by making sure we are getting poured into while we are pouring out and also getting rest. We have been realizing that we tend to go through a cycle. We will be healthy, then get in go mode, then it turns to survival mode, and then we find ourselves burnt out… Then we get ourselves healthy again, and then the cycle restarts. So we are now trying to figure out what and how it looks to stay healthy and get out of that cycle. I think one thing is making sure we do get rest and don't put too much on our plates. We are currently praying into the idea of going to a Leadership Academy for a few weeks to just rest and get poured into. We will keep you posted on that!
Again, we just want to say that we love you guys and are so grateful for your partnership with us. I have more to share, but I don't want to make this blog too long! Especially without the pictures to break it up.. So I will write again soon!
