Ok, so I have a confession to make
. . . I’ve been hesitant to blog because I know one of my previous blogs
freaked some people out. I’m sorry, that was never my intention. (I took it down b/c I realized it had some
controversial theological content.)
Honestly, one of the main reasons I blog is to share my heart with all
of you and to keep you posted on what’s happening on the field, on what God is
teaching me, and on my spiritual journey. I want to share that with all of you.
I want to encourage, build up, and maybe even inspire some of you! It’s a
journey that God is leading me on. But here’s the thing . . . God is doing
things here that are unexplainable! He is alive and well, He is powerful, and
He wants to use us to bring Kingdom! I don’t want to freak any of you out, but
it’s what He is revealing to me.
It’s
been a slow journey, but little by little God has began to reveal to me great
mysteries of which I did not know. A little over 2 years ago God started
putting probing questions on my heart . . . Why do I see things in the Bible
that don’t happen today? Why did Jesus come and teach the disciples what
Christianity is supposed to look like and how to walk in the power of the Holy
Spirit- if that’s not how it’s supposed to work today . . . In Gal. 5:25, Paul
tells us, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” The Bible is what we are supposed to live by and I
always want to live my life by God’s word. If you struggle with the thought of
living through the power of God’s Spirit, I encourage you to really study this
out for yourselves. Look up passages on this topic. Does what you read match up
with what you believe? For a long time, I chose to just believe what I heard,
but God began to poke at my heart about this. Everywhere I read I felt like God was telling me, “I’m not
just a story from back then. I’m still here. I am the same yesterday, today,
and forever. I still work in POWERFUL ways, and everything I do is SUPERNATURAL.”
Why is it so hard to believe in the supernatural? I mean after all nothing
about the cross is anything but supernatural. God turning my hard heart to a
heart of flesh, rescuing me from utter darkness, and bringing me into the
beautiful light of salvation is supernatural. Every believer’s rescue story is
Supernatural!
Our mind can’t wrap itself around
the supernatural, because it doesn’t make sense, it’s not logical. But we must
choose to believe God’s word. We can’t let our minds confuse our soul. In
Psalms 42:5-6, David speaks to his soul. “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why
so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my
Savior and my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember
you…” We must speak to our soul not what we think in our minds, but what God
says. Not what we feel, or what our experiences have been, but what God
says. Feelings lie, experiences can
even lie, but God’s word never does.
So
two years ago this journey began.
I asked God to show me if He still works in supernatural ways, and
slowly He has begun to show me. Matthew 7:7-8 says, “Ask and it will be given
to you; SEEK AND YOU WILL FIND; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who
seeks find; and to him who knocks the door will be opened. Jer. 33:3 says,
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you of great and unsearchable things
you do not know.” And now here we
are on this ongoing adventurous journey called faith and He is continuing to
open our eyes to his supernatural character!
