- Be fruitful
- Multiply
- Fill the Earth
Not only did Adam have free reign in the Garden, but he was instructed by God to subdue all that was in there and take dominion over it. Adam’s original sin of silence is the same curse that plagues males today. I’ve heard this topic several times before, but each time it seems to strike my soul more sharply.
Last week I had the pleasure of hearing a series of talks from Andrew Shearman. He’s a greatly passionate, fiery Brit who loves the Lord and loves to activate Christians to take full advantage of their role in the Kingdom. For far too long I’ve allowed fear to control certain areas of my life. Satan has no weapons against you or me other than the lies that he whispers; as I continue to grow to maturity in my own personal identity in Christ, those lies are being revealed.
It’s SO much easier to live passively. To go home after work and watch the game, check the internet, and go to bed. To wait for someone else to do what you know God is asking of you. To rationalize in your mind why it’s OK to take the easy road this time. After all God, you made me this way; you know I’m not good at that. Just pick someone else and come back when you have something that I’m more suited for. I’ll be sitting here waiting….
God never asks us to make a good try for him, he asks us to DO things for him. And because my identity is found in Jesus the Christ, and because the Holy Spirit dwells within me, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. (Phillipians 4:13) And so these things that are made possible in me through Christ are also made possible in you through Christ:
I am a child of God (John 1:12)
I am Christ’s friend (John 15:15)
I am a son of God (Romans 8: 14,15)
I am a joint heir of Christ’s kingdom (Romans 8:17)
I am a citizen of heaven (Ephesians 2:6)
I am an expression of the life of Christ (Colossians 3:4)
I am a son of light and not of darkness (1 Thess. 5:5)
I am God’s temple (1 Cor. 3:16)
I am born of God, and the evil one cannot touch me (1 John 5:18)
By the grace of God, I am what I am (1 Cor 15:10)
So guys, we’ve been sitting here waiting long enough. It’s time to stand…..
"So I'll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all
So I'll stand
My soul Lord to You surrendered
All I am is Yours"
