I’m supposed to be in Swaziland right now. That’s what our itinerary says anyway. But sometimes….let’s be honest, most times…..God is using a completely different list than I am. Which is why I’m writing this blog from London instead of Swazi.
The protests in Bangkok delayed us enough that we missed meeting our ministry contacts in Africa before they left for Christmas break; so had we gone to Swazi we would have had nothing to do. Because of delays and travel days, it’s been several weeks since we’ve actually been involved in organized ministry and so we didn’t want to aimlessly go to Swazi. By God’s planning, we had two choices….stay another month in Thailand, or take the airline up on their offer to fly us to London. Luckily AIM has some contacts in England, and so we took the airline up on their offer, packed in a matter of 3 hours for a completely different climate than we’ve lived in for the last 5 months, and left . Again, by God’s divine planning, we had a free place to stay for the first 3 nights in England, and now we’re hooked up with a sweet ministry in the city of London reaching the vast number of minority peoples in this extremely diverse city.
This month is going to be awesome. God knew all along what our route was going to be, and it just wasn’t time to go to Africa yet. London was a very unexpected, yet very welcomed surprise. The next few weeks should provide some great blogging material, so get ready!
And now that it’s not 90 degrees everyday for the 156th day in a row…….
Top 5 reasons why cold weather is better:
5. You can wear your only pair of jeans without sweating to death
4. Don’t have to worry about the sweat making sunscreen melt into your eyes
3. You can carry a backpack without it leaving a sweat stain on your shirt
2. You don’t look like you just ran through the lawn sprinkler from all the sweat when you walk a mile to church on Sunday morning in your Sunday best
1. It’s possible to sleep at night without…you guessed it….sweating!
Here’s to a cold Christmas in London!
