I just finished Joel Osteen’s book Break Out. It is an incredible book about how to break out of the ordinary and live an extraordinary life. I totally recommend reading it. As I prepare for the World Race, there are tons of things that apply to me right now. One of the points that stood out to me the most was built around Matthew 9:29:

“According to your faith it will be done unto you.”

The way Joel talked about this verse rocked my thinking. What God does for us depends on how big our faith is. If we have small faith and pray little prayers, then our vision of God is tiny. It limits what He wants to do for us. But if we honor Him by praying God-sized prayers and having mountain-moving faith, we take the limits off of God and he releases His favor.

Joel writes, “When you release your faith in a big way and when you speak boldly about your future, it brings a smile to God’s face. He says to the angels, ‘Listen to what they’re saying. They believe I can do great things. They’ve got their trust and confidence in me, so I won’t disappoint them. Let me open the windows of Heaven and pour out a flood of favor, healing, promotion, vindication.'”

There are so many great key ideas in this book. It will completely change your thinking and how you view God. I took a bunch of notes while reading it because there’s so much good stuff. Everyone should read Break Out!
