Coming home after training camp was not what I was expecting.
As I was getting off the plane in Fort Worth TX, I looked around and saw familiar things like my parents waiting to pick me up, but something was different inside of me. After a few days of being home, I was being invited to the local watering hole to throw some beers back and hang out with my good friends. But I no longer wanted to go to the local bar and see the same ol people do the same ol thing and drive back to my same ol house. I wanted something different because training camp reignited this fire inside of me!
My Squad did everything from sleeping on a bus to camping outside under a tarp! I met each of my squadmates and tried to get to know each of them (mind you there were 46). Everyone had an amazing story and it gave me this tremendous amount of energy just hearing about their stories and how they got to this awesome place in their life.
We had worship every night and let me tell you this was one of my absolute favorite times at camp. I will never forget the emotion and feeling I got every night walking into that air-conditioned building after a long day in the heat–it was like heaven on earth in many ways. Not only was it refreshing because of the temperature, but I felt filled up through the worship with my squad.
This was just the beginning of my journey.
