I was thinking today about a friend of mine who does not believe that they deserves things from God and is not worthy to have gifts lavished upon them from God. I can easily say I feel the same way at times. I read Scripture like “The wages of sin is death” and my mind can easily go yeah all I deserve is death, there is no worth in my life.
With those thoughts it’s easy to see why so many of us walk in defeatest attitude. We don’t see the power of God moving because we have denied the very identity we have in Christ. I have found it very common I’m the younger generations here in America wanting so desperately to reject the attitude the world has with value. The world tells us that we make our worth and we deserve what ever we want, we deserve it all. In attempt to counter act this notion, and show the world we are dofferent, we have go go the extreme opposite and claimed that we deserve nothing besides our death quoting Scripture like the one above.
I want to be very careful in unpacking this next part. The above statement that we only deserve our death, I believe, is a true one. But we have to make the distinction between deserving something and worthy of something. Deserving of something has to do with obtaining the reward of the work put into it. The payment for the work (sin) of this life is death. We sinned against God and the reward for that is our death. We are going to receive the just reward for our work. In that sense we only deserve our death. On this same note I want to say that the “work” that we do “for” God does not give us any reward. It doesn’t give us cars or anything, because 1) we don’t do the work He does and 2) our works are but filthy rags. So im not sure what the reward for giving God a filthy rag is.
That being said, if we just stopped there, it sounds really bleak and depressing. I’ve found that God never leaves us in a stage of hopelessness. He always provides hope back into us. Convicts us yes, but it is always hopefilled conviction. So we must ask then. Where is the hope?
I know you’re walking this journey with me, but I have to take a second and stop and just admire something. When we put our faith in Christ we are 1) Crucified with Him 2) Buried with Him 3) Raised again in baptism and 4) abide IN Him. Notice that last one. IN Him. From the moment we put that faith in Christ we are in Him. The Father sees Him when He looks at us, He doesn’t see who you were or what you did. He sees His son with “Whom He was well pleased”.
I know I thought, well I don’t deserve anything so that must mean that I’m not worth anything. If you have this thought I want to stop you right there. That is simply not true.
I want you to know:
YOU are worth rescuing.
YOU are worth the shame He bore.
YOU are worth the pain endured.
YOU are worth conquering the grave for.
YOU are worthy of Love
YOU are worthy of Life
YOU are worthy to be Called a Son or Daughter of God.
What makes you worthy? When something is worthy, there is a quality that makes of desirable.

Christ is that quality in you that makes you desirable. God in all of His wisdom.saw worth in you, not based on anything you did, but saw His son in you back before you ever knew Him. Christ is our worth. He lavishes gifts onto us because we have Christ on us. The gifts are for Christ never fprus. I think that’s why we don’t see the power of God move as we should. We don’t realize the worth we have in Christ. A person can’t do anything for anyone if they don’t nkoe who they are.
YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD AND ARE WORTHY OF LOVE, LIFE AND ALL THE TREASURES OF GOD.
So to answer the question in the title… Yes. Yes you are worthy because of Christ..
