As we made our way to Southeast Asia, we landed in the mid afternoon and rested at our first hostel for the day. Our Man of Peace was really nice. I noticed he was very excited to have us and he was open to answer all our questions. The people here seem to smile at us but I’m not sure if it is all friendly or just because we were like red spotted giraffes. (We didn’t see a lot of Americans)

After we settled in our hostel, we all went to eat dinner at a local restaurant. We maneuvered safely around motorcycles, cars, buses, people, and made it to a family owned restaurant. As I walk up to the counter to order food, I was not sure what I was doing. I pointed at the food and the man put it on my plate. It was delicious! I got some rice with spicy chicken with spicy eggs, and spicy squid. It only cost us about a dollar each person!

The clouds slowly came in and gave us much needed shade from the heat. Some of us split into small teams to explore the city. We had about a hour before the sun went down so we didn’t plan to go far. As I passed by each person, I felt a drop of rain hit the back of my head. My gut was telling me to tell the team, that we should head back. But the truth was I didn’t worry too much because it was so amazing exploring deeper into a new city. The rained started to pour hard on to us, so we decided to head back to our hostel. As we were running, people all around us kept laughing at us. Even a little girl laughed as she pointed at us because we were running while others were just sitting under the roof of different stores.

Today was a good day because we all kept a positive attitude and we embrace the whole experience.

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
