This is my favorite moment from Colombia. It is kind of funny how you see God in the big, big, big moments but even more so how He is found in the smallest details as well.
My team and I lived with a host family who, for the most part, only spoke Spanish. One day it was my turn to wash dishes for our team after breakfast. This particular day the mom of the family was preparing food for lunch a few hours later. Because I do not really care for doing dishes but I do enjoy listening to worship music, I put on music while I did the dishes to have a positive attitude. This led to the best moment of the month.
The song “Blessed Be Your Name” happened to come on. Now I love this song, and I came to find out, so did Evelia (the mom). So as I sang it out loud and proud (despite not having the best voice) she sang it loud and proud in Spanish. Just like that even though there was a language barrier we had something in common. And that is the fact that we both love Jesus and telling Him how great He really is.
To take this moment just a little bit further in meaning, a few days earlier we as a team were asked to come up and share some of our favorite parts of the world race so far. I shared about how I love to hear worship in different languages.
Only God could see the future and the moment that Evelia and I would get to share. How incredible is it to be in the very will of God and to see His plan being poured out in front of me.
