Like many people, the recent cooler weather has gotten me really excited for fall.  I LOVE fall, second only to Christmas season (not necessarily winter).  Last year, I wrote a blog about the things that I love about fall, so I thought I would repost it here.

What I Love About Fall

For some reason, lately, I've been really excited about fall this year. There are so many things that I absolutely love about fall, I decided to compile a list of all the things that makes it so completely awesome.

1) Football/Marching Band season-there's just something so special about a Friday night football game. Sitting in the bleachers with a hoodie and gloves, drinking hot cocoa, and cheering for your team. It was even more fun when I was in colorguard in high school. We would start getting ready a few hours before, complete with curling irons and tons of spray glitter. We would line up with the marching band outside of the front of the school. One of my absolute favorite parts was when we would march in to the field to the drum cadence. It signals the start of the game. A play of the fight song, and the game was on. We would have fun watching the game on the sidelines, and then of course, the big halftime show. I absolutely loved performing for Silks. And it is actually more challenging to spin a 5 foot pole with a flag on it super close to your body gracefully than you would think. I miss those days.

2) The colors. Before we moved to Missouri, I had never seen more than brown leaves in the fall. I've always been a fan of earthy tones, and the oranges, yellows, browns, and greens are so beautiful.

3) Wearing scarves.

4) Bonfires. Pretty much everything about them-the crackle of the fire, cooking hotdogs and roasting marshmallows, the way the smell lingers on your clothes.

5)Apple pie/apple cider. I had a dream a few months ago that I was picking apples in an orchard during the fall. I was going to make them into a pie. I want to do that in real life.

6) Carving pumpkins. It's so fun to get messy with the pumpkin guts.

7) Wearing hoodies.

8) The smells.

9) Stepping on leaves and hearing them crunch.

10) When I was little, it was SO worth the effort to rake, in order to jump into the huge pile of leaves. I believe this would still be fun.

11) Boots. I love wearing boots, but they are not practical for summer. It's so nice to finally be able to dust them off from their long stay in the closet.

12) Thanksgiving! My second favorite holiday.

13) The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I know it's cheesy, but it just wouldn't be Thanksgiving Day without watching the parade. I especially love the Broadway performances, the Rockettes, and of course, the kids with the white gloves.

14) The anticipation of Christmas season. Some would say that many people don't fully appreciate fall by anticipating Christmas, but to me, they just kind of melt into a seamless four months of awesomeness.

I can't wait for fall this year. It is my last semester of college, so I will try to enjoy it while it lasts. Yay for fall!
