As I sit here, at the kitchen counter, with my trusty space heater blowing on me, the dishwasher running, and my husband, sister, brother-in-law, and nephew in bed or winding down for the night, I feel like I am coming to the end of an era.
I’m saying goodbye to my good friend-our World Race blog.
I know it might sound melodramatic, but this blog has seen Josh and I through 2 1/2 years to the day (tomorrow), through the ups and downs of fundraising, being fired from a job that I loved, questioning the Lord’s plan for us as we had to delay going on the Race-twice-and then seeing His incredible favor on us when all we needed and more was provided, seeing the ripple effect that story had on literally thousands of people, discovering my love for writing and telling Kingdom stories, traveling 360 degrees around the world, and then through the difficult and at the same time, lovely process of re-entry.
And 133 blog posts later, I am ready to close this writing chapter (pun not really intended, but hey, it works). Our lives are so incredibly different, and we are so incredibly different, than we were two and a half years ago when we started this journey with you. If you have been with us since the beginning, thank you so much for sticking with us. Through my ramblings and through Josh’s theological ponderings, through our travels and ministries, and our stories. And to those who joined along the way, we were so excited that our stories were reaching more and more people. Every time you commented, it meant the world to us. It helped carry us when we were discouraged or tired, and encouraged us beyond measure.
To know that my words and stories meant something to others, and were themselves changing lives, was and still is incredibly humbling and exciting. Through your support and encouragement of my writing, the Lord has grown in me a dream to use my fingers on the keyboard as a way to bring life, fight for justice, and to just live a great story-one that is filled with Jesus.
So, I began working on a new blog site at the beginning of this year, and unveiled it in May. I wanted to continue writing about my stories after the Race, and to use it as an avenue for encouragement, humor, advocation, and as a way to process this thing called life after the World Race.
So, I give to you, Living A Great Story. Although it’s not always been easy to remember, your Great Stories can and do continue after the Race. Just because you may be staying in one spot for longer than a month, and may, like me, be working a temporary fast food job, doesn’t mean that your life is not interesting or that you are not a missionary anymore.
So, if you want to follow along on this great adventure, and hear stories about what post-Race life looks like for a married twenty-something, bump on over and press the follow button. I’d love to share life with you. 🙂
Love, peace, and all those good things.
