What is blogging…. Well here I go

So why are we going on the world race? During the fall of last year we started feeling led by God toward doing something more than just the normal job. Months went by, working, living life and it was late winter. We continued to have the feeling in our hearts that missions was what God had planned for us. Looking over numerous mission organizations and ministry’s information pages we continued to keep our heart and minds open to where God may be leading us. We looked at all sorts of mission’s opportunities in the US and around the globe. The World Race continued to stand out to us. We spoke to some elders at our church and spent much time praying for this trip and have a total peace about going. So we got the ball rolling and now are diving into the preparation for the trip.

What do I expect from the trip?

-To be challenged in every way.
I know this will be a challenge and I want to grow as a man. Marriage has made me grow so much as a person which I can contribute solely to Bekah. I know this time spent on the world race will help rid me of my pride, impatience, and numerous other bad qualities that I have.

-To be used by God to love on, share Christ, and serve in any way needed to numerous types of people around the globe.
I am excited to see what God has planned for us in each country through each ministry we will serve in. I love kids and can’t wait to be involved in ministry where I can love on them, build them up, and provide for their needs. At times the ministries we are involved in may not cater to my strengths or might put me out of my comfort zone. I know this is the time to push forward with a positive attitude and watch how God allows me to grow in these areas.

For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves”.    Luke 22:27

-To grow spiritually.
What type of growth will occur being away from TV, internet, and every luxury America offers? I am excited to see… I know these are such big distractions in my life and know that by simply eliminating myself from them will allow for so much more time to hear God’s voice, spend time in his word, and grow. I will focus on cultivating my own walk with Christ and using this trip for God to stretch me and deepen my walk and knowledge of him. A steady diet of his word will be on the menu everyday and I can’t wait to see what he has to reveal to me.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.    Hebrews 12:1-2
