Finding god through suffering is one of the harder things for a Christian to see in times of trouble. It’s hard to see a little boy of 16 addicted to drugs on a street in Medellin Colombia and still say that God is there… it’s also hard to see god when he takes our children away suddenly. Where is God in all of this suffering I find myself asking continually! We truly live in a fallen world and sometimes it’s very hard to see Christ in the all the darkness. But I’m reminded of what the Lord said, “I shall be a lamp unto thy feet”
We should see God people through His lens. We are asked to be His hands and His feet to the least of Him. Jesus was full of compassion on those who were lost and alone. Psalm 34:18 is perfect for what I’ve seen in the past month or so. God is always next to the broken hearted and always saves those crushed in spirit.
Through suffering there is strength to be found in dependence on the Lord. Through heartache we can have peace. He calms the storm inside of us if we let him.
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by the emotions and forget that Gods position in our life’s hasn’t changed. We find strength in Him and in Him alone. Every thing else is just a miserable replica of what God canoffers us.
I’ve learned so much about what it means just to love someone simple because it’s the right thing, and not because we are forced in it.
