Me, my team, and the other team we are with this month have just recently returned from a week long trek through the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains.  It was physically, mentally, and spiritually trying at times, but it was incredibly humbling and eye opening.  We visited the Chepang people and attended church with them and shared the word and love of God.  We got to play with the kids and talk with the adults about their life and how we can pray for them.  As much love as we tried to bring to these people, they gave it to us much more than we ever could have to them.  They physically did not have much at all to give us, but they gave us whatever they had to give.  It really pulled at our hearts, because every time we talked with them they would apologize for not being able to give us more.  These people who virtually have nothing felt bad that they couldn’t give us more than what they have.

Throughout the trek itself, there were many humbling things.  The first day of the trek, there was a 5 year old little girl and her mother were leading the way and was leaving us in the dust!!  Pastor Mithun (our leader of the trek) had a few helpers join us for it and they were always wanting to carry our packs for us.  The support and motivation from fellow teammates.

Now to the point of this title.  While on the trek, I did bring my camera, but due to the physically demanding nature of this trip, I was unable to take as many pictures as I would have liked to.  While I have some pictures of the adorable children and some amazing views, I wasn’t able to capture the brokenness, physical need, joy, love for God, hospitality, and grace that surrounded this trek.  People will be posting pictures of the kids playing, us eating, and views from how high up we were, but the moments that will stick with us forever are the things that were not captured on film and posted on facebook.  It will be in the way these people loved us, the way they sacrificed for us, and also how we grew together as a team to dive in to the rest of this journey.  This all happened in the FIRST WEEK of our trip, and all the incredible people and things we encountered are such an amazing blessing and encouragement to pour into every country and its people we will be reaching this year!

As a side note for the rest of this month, we are working with Agape Ministries for the rest of this month with an incredible host family.  We will be teaching basic work skills to women who were saved from the dance bars and prostitution.  We will also be working with kids in the slum areas of Kathmandu.  This month has a lot in store for us and has already supplied so much humility.  I will keep this updated as much as possible.  Thank you all for your prayers and support! God bless!
