Gen 3 is the story of the fall of man; it begins with a
cunning serpent speaking to Eve about the tree of “The knowledge of good and
evil.” During this dialogue we can see that Adam must not have been far away
because in verse 6 it says that, “she ate and then gave it to her husband with
her and he ate of the fruit”….. and the rest is history!!!  Many people blame Eve for eating the
apple and causing Adam to sin as well, but I think differently about the story.

Yesterday afternoon our contacts in Nigeria took us to see
some of the culture facilities in Calabar. One of the locations was a monkey
resort. The owner gave us a tour of the facility and explained just about
anything you could imagine about monkeys! The guide explained monkey behavior
living in their communities and how the most important functions of their
community are the Alfa Male and Alfa Female. In monkey communities the Alfa’s
are the rulers of everything. They possess power to eat first, sleep in the
best locations, protect the community from other communities, and possess the
power to mate with whomever they choose. The
Alfa male will walk around with his tale in the air showing his dominance to
the other males in the community
. If another male raises his tale at any
point it will signify that he is challenging the Alfa’s position. In an instant
the Alfa male will fight the male who raises his tale; the strongest always
wins and some fights go until the death.

An interesting thing about their community is the Alfa male
and the Alfa female relationship. The Alfa male will follow his female every stride
she takes. No one can touch her, and I mean no one!! Nothing comes to her
except through him and he will protect her at all cost. No one can give her
anything without the Alfa male having it first. When she would come to the
fence to see us, he was there watching us. The best part was when we moved he
would move with us always between her and our position. No other male would
dare come close to her because it would surely be a fight. No one could have
her except the Alfa male and everyone knew and respected it. It reminds of the
Adam and Eve in the garden. Where was
the man?

Where was the man while
Eve was speaking to the serpent? Adam should have had his tale in the air
exercising his God given dominance and he should have said in a stern voice,
“Hey you…get away from my Women!!”

Take a lesson from the monkeys guys……It’s time that we bring
the fight back for our women. I’m not saying that I have this lesson like a
pro, but its something that I recognize and moving towards. I want to be a man
with his tale in the air!! I want my wife to feel comfort and security with and
without my presence. She needs to know that I’m watching out for her and that I
want the best for her life. It’s time for us as men to bring out our A Game.  I want to fight for the gift of life God will bless me with.
I am to love her as Christ loved the church, and in this approach I take my LEAD AS THE MAN…..
