Merry early Christmas… I’m fully funded!!

I never could have imagined that in just over two months I would be fully funded for this trip. Originally I was so intimidated by raising such a large amount of money, but the Lord has been faithful and I could not be more grateful! I know it was all His doing and all I did was be brave enough to ask for help. Thank you so, so much to each and every person and family who has allowed God to bless me through you and made contributions financially and have been supporting me prayerfully as well.

Just this week I received some more detailed information about exactly where we will be headed and what we will be doing. It is all somewhat subject to change as we head out, but I’ll share the gist of it.

I found out that we will first be heading to Ometepe, Nicaragua, which is an island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua(slash Lago Cocibolca) where there is an orphanage and Christian school. The school provides children with a home of Christian love and support, proper clothing, food, education and living care, and ultimately prepares them to be able to independently enter Nicaraguan society. Some of the types of things we might get to do here are working with the school, serving in the cafeteria, serving with chores around the home, helping with kids programs, planting in the garden, prayer walks, and house visits. We will be here for the first month of the trip.

The next location we will go to for a month is San Jose, Costa Rica where there is a Christian organization called Connexion Ministries. We will hopefully be partnering with this organization to help with the children’s ministries inside schools teaching English and helping with Kids Club, participating in community gatherings and worship services, painting churches or schools, sports ministries, clinic ministries, manual labor, and prison ministries.

For the final month we will head to Jaco, Costa Rica on the Pacific Coast where we will live and serve at Ocean’s Edge, which is a ministry that trains and gives opportunities in concentrations such as business, art, and marketing, and teaches missional living. Some tasks we may get to do are to help with the kids ministry at the local church, put on a kids camp, work at the local library, and do construction projects on the property.

As I mentioned, the details are all subject to change, but having a clearer idea of some of the logistics of the trip and knowing that the funding is completely there for me to be able to go has made it all seem a lot more real. I’m nervous and excited, and I would ask for prayers for peace and patience as I wait until January 24 when I will begin training camp.

Thanks again!

Love, Jordan
