I was just in Katmandu, Nepal and working with an organization called Agape Mission. I am currently travelling to South Africa! (I’m really excited for Africa!)

Our ministry this month has been mostly evangelism. Our contacts encouraged us to hear God’s voice and get pictures or words for people. We call it a “Treasure Hunt”. How it works is for God, through the Holy Spirit, gives us words or pictures that represent someone who needs a touch from Jesus and we have to go out and find that person. They are the treasure and God is seeking them. It was super cool to see this in action, not only for me, but for every group that went out. We all came back with stories of finding the people God highlighted to us. Some people even asked Jesus to make His home inside of them and prayed to God for Salvation.

The other day we had a day called “Faith Day”. The premise of this day is taken from Matthew 10:9-10 which says, Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep. What we do is go out with nothing to rely on that we normally rely on, and get around the city sharing Jesus with people. If we need money for transportation or food, we have to rely on God to provide. We did this on Tuesday. We left our backpacks, food and money at the place we were staying and headed to where we meet in the morning down the road.

We started the day by spending some time worshipping with the whole squad. It was great to get our focus straight before stepping out and doing radical things in Jesus name. After that they told us to find teams of 2 or 3. I got into a team with a girl named Paige and a guy named Kyle. As we were about to leave, a Nepalese man named Dillip who works with the organization and is an awesome translator asked if he could join our team. I quickly jumped at that offer. (I hate doing evangelism without a translator) So he came along.

Paige got a picture from God of a nicely kept garden and Kyle was sensing to go to a hospital to pray for people. Paige also got a picture of us praying for people on a bench. We told Dillip the pictures and he said, “I know of a garden and a hospital that are really close to each other”. So figured we would head there first.

We walked to the hospital and we’re feeling that we needed to be more joyful and speak about the Life that Jesus offers. So we walked into the emergency waiting area and said, “Now what?” Paige and Kyle simultaneously saw an older gentleman and knew that he was the first for us to go to. We sat down and Kyle began talking to him as Dillip translated. Kyle got to pray for his asthma and chest pain and also share a bit of the gospel with him. At the same time an older lady came and sat down by Paige. Dillip then translated for her as she told the lady about Jesus and prayed for her healing as well. After that we walked throughout the hospital freely praying down the halls. We don’t realize the damage we did in that place that day, but we know we made a difference.

The next place we headed to was the garden area. It was by a Hindu temple. We had visited a lot of temples while in Nepal, so this was nothing out of the ordinary. We sat down in the grass by a guy sleeping and he heard us speaking English. So he woke up and began talking to us. He was a bit drunk/hungover from alcohol. We were still able to have a conversation with him despite that. Kyle shared his testimony and then the gospel with the man. We asked if he wanted to accept Jesus and said yes. Dillip led him in a prayer for Salvation. We weren’t sure how much really got through to Him with our words, but we are confident that Holy Spirit got to Him and has planted some seeds in good soil.

After this, we were starting to become hungry. At first we were praying, “God, provide us with food”. But then we changed our prayer to, “God, not only do we want you to provide food for us, we ask that you provide more than enough so we can feed others. We had no plan anymore so we decided to stop and pray. God gave me a picture of an orange triangle with red circles in it. I thought it was a pizza slice.

So we walked down the road and all of a sudden, another group of people from our squad cried out from across the street, “Kyle! Kyle!” We went over to see what was up. It turns out they were really lost. A bus dropped them off at a place that they were unfamiliar with. They were praying for God to help them home, and we were their answer to prayer. Kyle then walked into the restaurant where they were asking for help and asked if we could have free food there. To our surprise, they said yes. They brought out clean water, tea and 2 slices of toast. Here we are, 6 white people (stereotypically rich) and a Nepalese getting free food from a restaurant in a 3rd world country. God answered our prayer of providing more than enough than just us. He fed us and another team. Oh, and a really cool thing, the logo on the restaurant was this picture below.

To top it all off, as we were leaving the restaurant, the first guy we prayed for in the hospital was walking by at that exact moment. He saw Kyle and his face lit up. Dillip asked if he was feeling bette, and he said yes. We don’t know for sure if he does or if he was just saying that, but we find it super cool that if we would have walked out of that place 15 seconds sooner or 15 seconds later, we probably would have missed him. God chose our path that day and we were able to be used to play a part in His Kingdom.

I learned to trust in God even more that day. Often we trust Him for the things we already have and not the things we don’t. Whether we realize it or not, God is always taking care of us. He feeds us and clothes us. He provides for us all our needs and even our deepest desires. I am becoming a lot more aware of His provision for His children. I hope this encourages you to be more aware of what God is doing behind the scenes in our lives. We miss many great opportunities in life as we focus on our flesh. As we are set on walking in the Spirit, we become more aware of what God is doing around us.

Continue praying for me. Last month almost everyone on my squad gor sick except for me. I have finally picked up a cold for our travel days and it has been affecting my asthma. Prayer for good health and a deeper relationship with Jesus would be two great prayers. If you have any questions for me, plesse don’t hesitate to ask.
