Michael Jordan was born February 17, 1963. He played 15 years of professional Basketball in the NBA. He is known to be one of the Best Basketball Players of All Time. He is Nicknamed “Air Jordan” for his dunk from the free throw line. In 1999, he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN.
Something I really enjoyed about Michael Jordan was his ability to make buzzer beater shots. If you don’t know what that is, don’t worry. I will tell you. And then give you a little spiritual insight from it.
A buzzer beater is when the time is ticking down for the end of the game. In basketball, if the ball is in your hand when the buzzer goes, you cannot shoot it (for points). But you can release the ball before the buzzer and if you get the ball in the basket, the points will count. You can watch a video of Michael Jordan shooting a buzzer beater shot in the link below.

So what is the Spiritual significance of that Jordan?
I’m getting to it.
Last year, before I was leaving to Uganda, I was in need of money to pay for the whole semester. I was praying and asking God for money. At the end of a church service I went up for prayer and a guy got a word for me. His word was this:
Other guy: “Have you ever seen Michael Jordan play?”
Me: “Yes (only on YouTube), I love Michael Jordan”
Other guy: “Often God is like Michael Jordan. He loves to shoot those buzzer beater shots when it comes to providing finances. Often He will wait till the last possible second to send money.”
Yup, that made sense to me. And this guy didn’t know that basketball was my favorite sport. God gave me a fun picture to show me that He is in control. God is really good at buzzer beaters. They cause us to trust in Him until the last possible second. Just like Michael Jordan’s teammates had to trust in his skill and ability to make those shots, we need to trust in God that He is faithful until the end. He will finish what He started.
God has began this journey with me to send me to the nations. This is one of my biggest hearts desires (more than basketball). I get the opportunity to go into 11 different countries and share what God has done in my life and show people that there is something in this world that will fill the void in our hearts. I get to live out Kingdom in a different context than Canada. I am so pumped for that.
So why is your blog called Michael Jordan Day?
Good question. I will tell you.
On November 10th I will be turning 23. This was Michael Jordan’s number. Also, my middle name is Michael. My full name is Jordan Michael Tarant. COOL RIGHT??? So I really should have called it Jordan Michael Day.
What I am asking is that people would donate $23 on November 10th towards my missions trip.
So $23 for my 23rd.
You can donate by either sending money to “Christian Fellowship Assembly” and note that it is for my missions trip.
Or you can donate online through this website. If you have a credit card, it is really simple. Just click the “Support Me” button at the bottom and top of the page and follow the instructions.
On the 10th I will have been alive for 23 years. I am truly thankful for all that God has done in my life. I am thankful for the family and friends I have, Where I live, Where I work, What I eat, What I drive and so much more. I am truly a blessed man.
If you would like to continue the blessings in my life, I appreciate the support. My next deadline is Dec. 19 and I need $7500. I am currently at $6350. So I am almost there. My final amount that I need is $16,250.
So whether I receive the money right away, or receive it last minute, I choose to trust in God until the last second. Thank you and God bless!
