Hola mis amigos y mi familia!
(Hello my friends and family)
I am currently in Spain and doing really well!
I spent my first few days here in Barcelona. We had some workshops for the squad on leadership and Holy Spirit training. As leaders, we also shared our testimonies with the squad in the hope they get to know us better. After a few days of that, we took a train to Logrono to begin hiking a small section of the Camino. We hiked from Logroño to Burgos. It was about 130km and took 5 days of walking. During the days, we would walk from town to town and take a break in each place. Our one leader would give us a focus for the day and then we left around 8am. Around noon we would eat lunch and then often arrive at the hostel around 2-3pm. It varied from day to day. Sometimes we would all walk in silence for the first few hours of the day and just spend time with God. Then throughout the rest of the day, we would talk with one another and build relationships.
Something I’ve had spoken over my life for many years now is that I am pastoral. I always equated being pastoral with being a pastor in a church-building context. But I’ve learned that isn’t always the case. For some people it is. So throughout this Camino journey, I’ve had multiple people encourage me with how pastoral I am. Here in Spain, I’ve been able to walk out (literally and figuratively) in the gift God has given me. I feel so full of the Spirit!
There are so many things that I love in life that I get to do. I get to travel, take pictures, disciple young men and women, teach people to hear God’s voice, have lots of one-on-ones, meet foreigners, eat foreign food (although Spanish food is not anything to boast about) and more! I keep asking God, “Why me??? Why do I get to do these things?” And He responds with, “Because I love you, because I love you, because I love you. And nothing more”.
I stand in awe of the One who gave it all. I stand, my soul surrendered to Him. All I am is His. I stand in awe of the One who gave it all, and I happily lay down my life for Him. It seems like an even trade, however, we both know I got the better end of the stick.
