Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India, is the 7th largest city in the world and is home to Asia’s biggest Red Light District. There are around 12,000 prostitutes in this particular district.

It is mostly local men who go here for sex, as compared to places like Thailand which attracts a lot of tourists from other countries. Here there are women trafficked from many countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and all around India.

Sex in these areas can sell for anywhere between 50-300 Rupees ($0.74 to $4.45). Maybe more if the room conditions are better and the woman is more attractive.

When we are in Christ, we wage war against our flesh. We are meant to walk in the Spirit all day, every day.

Galatians 5:24-25 says, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit”.

We as believers have to make a conscious choice to walk by the Spirit. Our default if we don’t is to walk by the flesh. And nothing good comes out of the flesh.

Galatians 5:19-21 says, “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.

When I walk through the streets here in India, I see most these things. This is the opposite of who God is. These people are operating fully out of their flesh and are fulfilling their lustful desires. And I’m not surprised one bit!

Here in India, an ice cream bar goes for about $0.75 and around $1.50 for a really good one.

Men here are paying to sleep with a woman for around the same price they would pay for an ice cream bar.

Both satisfy their flesh in some way.

When their flesh has that void that they need to fill, they can literally think, “Hmm, what do I want right now? Ice cream or sex?” Then they choose what their body desires.

It’s sad that Christians can have this same thought process. If we are not led by the Spirit, then our flesh will decide for us. It may not be sleeping with a prostitute in India, but it’s operating in the opposite spirit of Christ. Sin is sin.

What is sadder is that if these people never hear the gospel and repent from their sins, they will spend an eternity in a hell far worse than the one they are currently in.

Galatians 5:21 says, “I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God”.

The “Gospel” means “Good News”! I am forever thankful for what Jesus did on the cross for my sins! He wiped them away and gave me abundant life! I get to spend an eternity in Heaven with Jesus and it was absolutely free!

So many people don’t know this good news. People are dying in their filth and sins having never heard Jesus’ name. There are prostitutes selling their body for the price of an ice cream bar and are waiting to hear about Jesus and all He has done for them. They just don’t know it yet!

There are people around you too who don’t yet know Christ. He is wanting to work through YOU to REPRESENT GOD on this earth. It’s an honor and a privilege, but it comes with responsibility. If you said “Yes” to Jesus and didn’t know representing Him was a part of the deal, you should have done some more research.

Maybe you do know it’s a part of the deal but are too afraid to step out. (That’s where I was most my life). Now is a good time to make a change. Spend so much time with God that fear dissipates off of you and step into who God created you to be. You were made in His likeness and are to mirror the Father to everyone you meet. You can do it. The world is waiting for you to step into your destiny!

We all have a choice to walk according to our flesh or by the Spirit. One brings death and destruction and the other brings life and prosperity. Every day we make this choice. Every hour. Every minute.

Romans 8:12-17 “Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation–but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory”.

This is an amazing life we get to live when we live in the Spirit! Don’t let another day pass without Him possessing your life!
