I am currently in month 7 of the World Race. That means I am officially over half way done this 11 month journey! I have grown so much and God continues to teach me and show me new things about myself that I never realized before. My physical appearance hasn’t changed a whole lot, besides maybe a few extra pounds and a bigger beard. Oh, and a few new pieces of clothing. But all is well in the life of Jordan Tarant. I am currently in Estonia. I am loving Europe and its quiet and beautiful lifestyle. I am also learning about the Soviet Unions horrific past and the hardships that the older generations are facing.

I want want to share a story of what happened today. Today, my team and I went to a small village to go to a youth group. We planned to share testimonies and worship with the youth. When we arrived, there were only 5 youth there. We ate some snacks then Alyssa, Chenea, Sarah, Krystal and Joel went outside to play with them. Kyle and I sat inside with our translator and a woman named Aita. She is a mother of 5. Her and her husband live on a small farm. I was sharing with her my new found passion for farming, and we began a relationship talking about life.

She then began sharing about her kids. The youngest is 17 and is serving Jesus, but the others, who range from 20-27 aren’t. We sat and listened as this loving mother poured out her heart to us about how she desires for her older kids to know Jesus. They all grew up going to Sunday School and know the gospel, but aren’t choosing to follow Jesus.

I was then feeling led to ask Kyle to briefly share his testimony of turning away from the church and how God brought him back. So he shared and she was very encouraged to hear it. It even brought tears to her face. I knew this was a holy moment. I then was feeling led to to share about the position my generation is in. About how we don’t want to hear “Don’t do this” or “Do that”. We desire relationship. People aren’t looking for rules to follow, they are looking for a person, or in our case, a personal God to follow. She then shared how she felt alone in her walk with God because everyone around her, except her youngest daughter, is not following God.  I  was reminded of the prophet named Jeremiah who was in a similar situation, but far worse. He was one of few in Israel who stood up for righteousness. So I encouraged her with his story that even though he was alone in his country and everyone around him was unrighteousness, God was still close to him. That God was his strength in times of trouble. Then we got to pray for her and her kids and speak prophetic words over her. She was extremely blessed and encouraged by it all.

She told us, “I thought tonight you guys were going to minister to the youth, but instead, God used you to minister to me”.

I was truly honored by those words. I love the times when we come with an agenda of what we are going to do to “minister” to people, and then God does His plan instead. What I’ve learned about that is to be flexible and be willing to be used for anything God may have for us. Coming with a plan is a good thing to do, but be totally okay if God wants to change that plan. In fact, I suggest praying before hand and asking God what His plan is. I need to remind myself to do this all the time. It’s best to come into a situation prepared with God’s leading.

Here is a picture of Kyle and I after praying with Aita.

After praying with Aita, we talked a bit more and then had to leave. Our translator suggested going to her house down the road and praying for her family and farm. So our whole team went to pray. As we got there, she went into her barn and brought out a young calf to show us. She was so excited to show us her cow and chickens. We then looked around her yard and prayed for the rest of her family to enter into a true relationship with Jesus. Aita has an amazing passion for lost souls. I am going to stand in the gap for Aita this month. I encourage you to be praying for Aita and her family as well. She desires to see her family ano community reached for Christ. And I believe he prayers will be answered!
