Hey everyone! I have some exciting news! It has been a very crazy season of life for Me lately.
As I’m sure you know, I got back from the World Race at the end of November. I spent December at home catching up with people then left in January for Calgary to make a new home. I spent 10 days in America for a debrief called Project Searchlight and came back to Calgary on Jan. 20. I posted a status that said I am making a resume and going to be looking for jobs. God spoke to me through my brother that I shouldn’t just be handing out resumes aimlessly, but instead seek God on what He specifically has for me. So I began doing that and He led me to be a full time evangelist/ missionary in Calgary.
You can read the whole story in my last blog HERE.
So the past week I have been going out and “hitting the streets”. I learned that when I am with other people, I can be confident and step out to evangelize. But when I am by myself, I am extremely shy and don’t like starting random conversations. I have a lot of fear of man I need to overcome. I have had only one encounter in the past week. Every day I walk past a ton of people and I haven’t initiated any conversation. I usually end the day by taking the train home and being disappointed in myself. But God, in His amazing grace, speaks softly and says, “Jordan, I am so proud of you. I love that you are stepping out and trying. You’re not their yet, but keep it up My son. I love you!” This gives me the confidence to try again the next day. Even when I don’t believe in myself, God does. It’s amazing to know that God has faith in me.
So as for the exciting news, I shared in my last blog about an opportunity to go back with the World Race and be a squad leader for an Expedition Route (which is the 11 in 11, but a lot more intense). I applied for it about 2 weeks ago and yesterday got the official “Yes”! I am so pumped to serve God in this way! I wanted to share how this all came about, as it basically jumped out on me out of nowhere.
Before I even signed up for the World Race, I heard about how after the World Race, a person can go back to squad lead. I thought to myself, “That would be pretty cool. Maybe I’ll do that after”. Then throughout the Race, I kept trying to decide whether it would be something I wanted or not. Some days it would excite me, and others, I could care less for it. Then as I was coming close to the end of my Race, God spoke to me in October. This is how the conversation went. I wrote it down when it happened.
“Jordan, do you want to squad lead?”
“God, I don’t know if it’s because I am exhausted and it is 12:46am, but I don’t want to squad lead. You will have to bring it up again with me when I am not in this state. Right now, the idea of it does not seem to fit what You have been leading me into for after the Race”
“That’s cool Jordan, I just wanted to check”
“God, I feel as if something is up and your holding out on me”
“I’ll tell you later”
Haha, so ya, I had totally forgot about this entire conversation. A few days after I got an email asking me if I would like to squad lead in April, I found this in my notes! God was prepping me for this and I didn’t even realize it!
At this point in my life, it is definitely something I want. I desire to grow in leadership and service to others, and this seems like the perfect opportunity. I love to disciple young adults and pour into them spiritually. And that’s something they want the Expedition Route to have more of a focus on. Discipleship.
I will be gone for 5 months beginning in April (So only 2 months away!) I will be going to the 10/40 window and to respect the safety of the squad and hosts, I can not list the countries in this blog. I will be in North Africa, Central Asia, and SE Asia. If you would like to know specifically, you can ask me in person.
The heart behind the Expedition Route was to raise the standard of mission, intentionality, and spiritual engagement for the Racer. They are targeting mature, high-capacity Racers and offering a route that goes exclusively through the 10/40 window, which is essentially the part of the world between North Africa and South East Asia where the Gospel still has yet to be preached. The vast majority of people in this region and in these countries not only aren’t Christian, but they have no access to the Gospel. Our premise is that by creating a platform for Racers to engage with these people, and by offering a route that is more tailored, more intentional, and more demanding, Racers will meet this higher standard, resulting in an overall experience that is more radically representative of Jesus’ call and mission, and more effective in activating Racers to bring the Gospel to the people who have truly never had a chance to hear it.
As for gear I have almost everything I need. If you would like to help me out gear wise, some things I need include new shoes, iPod 5 charge cable (mines almost done), and an Eno (hammock). Just message me if you’d like to help with any of these.
As for the money needed to go, I don’t have the final number yet. It is something around $7000 USD. I will post in a blog and on Facebook when I know the exact amount.
If you are Canadian, it will not be tax deductible this time, so do not donate through CFA. You can donate online with credit card through this blog by clicking the “Help Support Me” tab. You can also send a cheque to

I will be doing a few fundraisers during the next two months, so be on the look out for those.

This journey I am on is not about Jordan, but about advancing the Kingdom of God in the most unreached area of the World. I would love for you to join me in God’s mission to let His Name be made know among the nations.
In Christ,
Jordan Tarant
