It is OFFICIALLY time for me to announce my home(s) for one year!!
Throughout my time on the race, I will live in one country for one month – for 11 months. Each month will consist of different ministry. That ministry is unknown as of right now and a lot of times we won’t know what a month will hold for us until it finally arrives. My route is subject to change, but as of right now I will be visiting the following:
Month 1: Haiti
As you may know, Haiti was hit with a devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010 which they are still recovering from. Even before this life-altering day, they were considered the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Today, rubble still lies in the streets and families live in tents. But this country is experiencing a spiritual revival like never before. Communities are turning to pastors for leadership and the local church is becoming the driving force behind the countries on-going rebirth. This place will be my home for one month and I am so excited to be apart of this nation’s history!
Please pray for my team and the people of Haiti as they welcome us with open arms.
Month 2: Dominican Republic
This island, discovered by Christopher Columbus, is shared with Haiti. After the 2010 earthquake, this country became a refuge for thousands of people. So much so that thousands are living in the streets, barely making it day by day. Although this place is often known for it’s beautiful beaches, the nation’s economy depends on tourism. Political corruption is a lasting issue along with it’s wide gap between the wealthy and poor. Many Dominicans proclaim Christianity, but mostly by name only. This month will be all about sharing the freedom from knowing Christ.
We will then make our way to another continent. These next 3 months I am looking forward to the most!
Month 3: South Africa
This time next year I will be in AFRICA! Month 3 will be spent in the famous South Africa, also known for it’s Great White Sharks! This is the southernmost country in Africa. This place is a land of adventure, but it’s also a land of deep pain. Decades after apartheid ended, South Africa is still searching for healing. Although this is one of the wealthiest countries on the continent, most populations outside the big city are poor. HIV/AIDS is one of many things this country is struggling with. I can’t wait to share the adventure of the Kingdom of God to these people.
Month 4: Botswana
Right above South Africa, where I will be spending month 3, Botswana is one of the most sparsely populated countries on earth, but has the third highest HIV rates in the world. The nation itself struggles with drought and desertification, yet has the largest elephant population on earth. 70% of the population professes Christianity and attends church regularly but 20% does not practice any religion at all. Our ministry partners here in Botswana envision a Church rising up and taking the Gospel throughout the entire nation, sending missionaries to the least evangelized villages. How incredible would that be? I can’t wait to see how God is going to use me throughout the month.
Month 5: Zambia
Right above Botswana is this beautiful country. Although beautiful, the Zambian population suffers from poverty, short life expectancy, malnourishment, lack of clean water and the AIDS crisis. Zambia needs encouragement from missionaries to remind them of God’s faithfulness, even in the face of challenges and heartbreak. This month will be challenging, but I am so looking forward to it.
Next, we will make our way over to yet another continent!
Month 6: India
India is home to nearly a sixth of the world’s population. 29 languages, multiple practiced religion, some of the spiciest food on the planet and a highly segregated rich and poor class. This country has a lot to offer, but it’s broken in so many different ways. Social injustice, discrimination, forced prostitution and human trafficking occur every single day. Baby girls are often killed due to their financial burden of families, lepers are treated as untouchable and countless amounts of people live in slums. This month will be all about the outcast. We will share the love of Christ to people who really need it most.
Month 7: Nepal
I can’t wait to visit Nepal! It’s one of the most popular countries for a World Racer. I get to see Mount Everest! How insane is that? Nepal literally sits on top of the world. It’s a place of adventure but also a place for a lot of widows, orphans and innocent lives enslaved in human trafficking. Nepal is in desperate need of God’s grace, love and mercy and I’m hoping we can show these people a glimpse of that.
The last leg of the race will be spent in yet another continent, Europe! I really have no idea what to expect, but I am so incredibly excited!
Month 8: Romania
The home of Dracula brings thousands of people to explore the beauty and history Romania has to offer. After breaking apart from the Soviet Union, Romania is still attempting to re-create itself while rising from the impoverished state left over from that era. Economic growth still seems like an impossible dream for many orphans and widows. I’m not exactly sure what this month will hold for us, but I’m hoping to bring a little bit of hope for these people and their future. Our God is good and He loves His children, even those who feel so lost and forgotten – maybe they can realize that, too.
Month 9: Albania
I get to visit a country that Apostle Paul visited during his third missionary journey. WHAT? Albania declared independence in 1912 but was still occupied by both Italy and Germany during WWII, lying behind the Iron Curtain and under Soviet Rule until 1989. After the fall of the Soviet Union, conflict within the Balkan Peninsula tore families apart once again. It is a nation of rich history, natural beauty and people who know deep pain. I feel as though this month will be full of spiritual growth.
Month 10: Bulgaria
The sixth country to put an astronaut into space, Bulgaria has the second highest amount of Mensa Members in the world. Although this place is full of intelligence, it is also a primary source, transit, and destination point for human trafficking. These people hunger for more. More intelligence, technology, breakthroughs.. but what they don’t realize is everything they long for can be found within a relationship with Jesus Christ. I get to share that with people, and maybe I’ll gain a few more brothers and sisters in Christ along the way.
Month 11, the FINAL month: Serbia
The last month of the race.. Formerly part of Communist Yugoslavia, Serbia’s people have a story to tell. After all the tension between the Balkan Peninsula, reorganized borders have forced a lot of the population into Serbia, when they call other countries home. This led to social injustice, crime, and sadly, again, human trafficking. My team and I are hoping to bring hope to these people and restore what was once lost.
I am so excited for everything the race has to offer. I will be the active hands and feet of Jesus, but I cannot do this without you. The financial aspect of the journey is stressful and overwhelming. But it’s all apart of the process! I’m still looking for monthly donors as well as people who feel called to make one-time donations. I need your help!
