Hello everyone from India!
I have been here for a short two weeks of two months so here’s a quick low down of my life here!
I am currently living in a part of India that most of you probably have never heard of, it’s a part of India I didn’t know about until being told I was going there. For safety reasons I cannot share my location, but it’s not in the main body of India. India is beautiful and most importantly, it’s NOT HOT! The weather here is mid 70s in the day and low 40s at night; it’s perfect weather. I am living in a dorm on a Bible college campus! This is literally the only way you are getting me to go to college, and the good part about this kind of college living is that I have no homework! It’s more like a work study really. This place has an insanely cool story, the group of people in the area are part of the Hmar tribe. Our host’s dad was actually second generation Christian and he translated the Bible from english to the Hmar language! There’s a movie about him called “Beyond the Next Mountain”. I think everyone should watch it, the story is unreal! But over the years this area has built up to be a Christian community. A Christian hospital, college, school and churches. This place is incredibly beautiful.
The ministry here has been a little bit like Nepal where we did something different every day, but this time we are going back to those same places about every other day. The first week we did a lot of construction and clean up work around the campus and the second week here we got the chance to help out at a children’s VBS where over 2,000 kids attended! Watching 2,000 come just to hear the word of God was absolutely incredible. The rest of the time here will be more construction, conversational english with the students, sharing testimonies, sharing messages, working in the hospital and just loving on others.
We eat a lot of rice here, the rice baby just keeps on growing. We also eat lots of curry, bread, noodles, soup, and the occasional french toast for breakfast. We do all this eating under this circus looking tent called the bangla. The people here really like their color and I’m not complaining. It is a ten minute walk uphill to all of our meals, makes rolling out of bed a tad harder.
One really neat thing about where I am living is prayer mountain. It’s literally a mountain where people go up to pray. There are small prayer cabin rooms for individual and prayer cabins for groups of people. All of the building on the mountain were donated by locals and not outside sources which is beautiful. It’s such peaceful place to go and talk to God, cry to Him, rejoice with Him and rest in Him.
I do have wifi where I am living this time so if you want to reach out and say hello or if you have more questions about life in India, shoot me an email!
