God presented me with this absolutely crazy idea, to give up fundraising for 21 days.
To understand this a little bit better, let me explain. Every year my church starts prayer and fasting on the first Sunday of the year. As I prayed about what God wanted me to give up and I felt like He was telling me to give up social media. I had absolutely no problem giving it up for 21 days, but here’s the dilemma; I was using it as a platform to fundraise. The thought of putting fundraising $15,000 on hold for 21 days gave me heart palpitations, so I prayed that God would show me something else that didn’t pose as big of a risk as this. But if you know God like I do, this wasn’t a risk, this was a way for me to display my obedience and for Him to show His greatness and powerfulness. On the eighth day after I was supposed to start the fast, God layed it on my heart to completely give up fundraising and social media. So right then and there I deleted every social media platform I had on my phone and I let go of trying to raise money.
God never does anything without a plan in mind for the goodness He has to show.
After several days of making this decision, my old boss Mr. Peck from the farm I used to work on, called me. He is a Christian and he was the first person to ever tell me I was going to be an evangelist way back in 2014. He has played a huge role in my life and has been an absolutely wonderful adopted grandfather. On the phone, he told me that he had received my letter I sent out a few months ago announcing that I was going on the World Race. He said that he had been meaning to call me about it, but kept forgetting. He expressed how happy he was that I was going on this missions trip and that he would like to help fundraise for me.
Not help fund me, he said fundraise for me.
I sat on the phone with my mouth open, I couldn’t believe what he was telling me. He kept telling me ideas he had come up with to help me. He owns a country club in my town and he proceeded to tell me that we could do a raffle or hold a banquet to help raise money. He told me to call him in two weeks so I could sit down with him over lunch or coffee to discuss how to move forward with fundraising. He also told me that he had a few truck loads of things he wants to donate to my yard sale.
This was not something I was ever expecting and it’s all thanks to God.
