I’m going on The World Race!

What is the World Race?

The World Race is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Lord-willing, I will be leaving in January of 2018 and will be returning that November.

To me, the World Race is more than a mission trip. It’s a call to expand my horizons and seek God apart from my zones of comfort that surround me. When I think of how next year will look for this heart of mine, I picture the Lord breaking every barrier created by water, walls, language, ethnicity, culture, and most importantly- us. I see His people coming together and rising up in His love. His heart for His children is greater than we will ever comprehend and He pursues the nations- longing for His sons and daughters to lay down their brokenness and cry out to Abba. He has called us to partner with Him in this miraculously journey for His love- healing the sick, restoring the broken, and Fathering the orphan. Next year, my team and I are going to work alongside Him and we’re going to abandon ourselves for the sake of the great commission.

Adventures in Missions, an interdenominational organization with a focus on discipleship, partners with ministries all over the world. Adventures has sent out over 104,000 people into the mission field.. Through the World Race alone, they have sent out over 3,600 missionaries. I will be apart of that 3,600- spending a month in 11 different countries: Haiti, The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Uganda. Each month, my ministry will look different. My team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. No matter what the Lord has designed for us, He has one mission behind it all: To dig deep into hearts with the love that He carries.

Three years ago, I was in El Salvador on my first international mission trip and I devoted my life to missions. Since then, transformed my heart and prepared me for the path paved ahead. He has placed a constant longing to serve the nations and a dissatisfaction in my heart for the ordinary. He has shown me that a life serving Him means a life without feeing content in sitting back and watching the world go on while our brothers and sisters are starving, without families, getting trapped in human trafficking, and living without hope. There is a world that is searching for love and fulfillment through brokeness- but God wants to restore that. He has broken my heart and shaken my world- and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I have gone on multiple mission trips, but I believe that He wants me to serve for a longer period of time.

How to partner with me.

Prayer, prayer, prayer!

As I enter this new season, I would love for you to join me! I need prayer warriors and encouragers!

Here are some things you can be praying for:

  • For my team and I as we prepare to leave! For our spiritual journey and for our minds and hearts to be guarded in Christ throughout this process.
  • For increased trust in the Lord with our finances and in the things we’re giving up by leaving home for a year. Big numbers and long time periods can seem scary, but God is so much greater than any worry we could have.
  • For those we will be encountering! Pray for open hearts and open minds. Pray for seeds to be planted and love to spread! For eternal friendships and wonderful memories. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Above all, for the Lord’s will to be done!

Financial Support!

As I prepare for my departure, this will be one of my greatest challenges. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. In order to leave fully funded in January, I need to raise over $18,00. This doesn’t include two round-trip tickets to and from Georgia and equipment. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you prayerfully consider joining me? Any amount from $1 to $18,000 ๐Ÿ˜‰ will help.

Before you do anything, ask God! He knows best how you can serve the Kingdom- that could mean supporting me, but it can also mean doing something else! I want you to join me if the Spirit leads you to- not myself. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are a few ways you can partner with me through financial support:

  • Donate online with a credit or debit card! Go to jordanharrington.theworldrace.org. Here, you can choose to donate monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc.

  • By mail! You can send a check to Adventures in Missions. Include my name: Jordan Harrington. Send it to: Adventures in Missions, P.O. Box 742570, GA 30374-2570
  • I made a registry through REI for the items I’ll need, like tents and sleeping bags! Go to www.rei.com, click on gift registry, and enter my name and Registry #GR151932090. I need to buy most of these items by training camp in October, so this would be a HUGE help!

Fundraising Deadlines:

December 18th, 2017: $10,000
